WHY?

A. Bush political advisors tell him voters have NO PLACE TO GO to protest his amnesty plans since all the Democrat candidates support amnesty. (See: http://www.washtimes.com/national/20030906-120054-6125r.htm)

HOW?

B. Since they think we have NO PLACE TO GO, we should let them know what they are up to by GOING NO PLACE on January 12, 2004,­ the first day of Bush¹s visit with Mexican President Fox in Mexico City. In other words, don¹t shop, don't go to movies, etc. ­ Stay at home!

C. This is not a boycott. There will be no real economic damage to anyone,­ just a demonstration of our ability to protest. It's a win-win situation!

And the bad thing is --- nothing is improving in Mexico in spite of how many of their indigent class we've taken in. It's actually worsening quite fast, crime over there is skyrocketing and they are more dependent on US money than ever before.

I agree with some of this. In fact, the Chinese (who normally take great pride in providing for their elderly parents) are now putting their parents on assistance illegally. I have an article that is rather sad, but becoming more and more common place in the Asian families.

The pride has been replaced by convenience and availability of governmental/state assistance.

One thing people forget --- in the 1800's during the massive immigration waves, many of those ships heading back to Europe weren't heading back empty. Many immigrants ---- about a third of all ---- returned back home within a short time because they couldn't make it here or for other reasons decided to go back. Welfare programs keep many of those who can't make it here from ever going back.

Just like many of those Chinese sponsoring their elderly and bringing them to the USA --- they wouldn't bring them at all if it weren't for SSI and Medicaid and food stamps. If they really had to pay their health care and other costs, they'd leave them back home where it's all much cheaper.

Never happen, and we all know it. Imagine being the president responsible for ordering the National Guard to go around rounding up women and children at gunpoint and sticking them in camps for processing and deportation. How would that play on TV? Other than fringe right-wingers, there would be very few people in this country who would support such a move.

According to just about every poll that I've seen on the subject of illegal immigration, about 70% of the American population would support such a move.

I had many similarly disturbing experiences in LA.

The idea that Americans want illegal aliens to stay here is just one of numerous meritless contentions being offered these days by the populists bathing themselves in Bush's numbers against a field of born-to-lose also rans.

The problem is on the other side of the Border, so what is the solution? Open the Border to everyone? Invade Mexico?

But that's the other problem ---- indigent immigrants with no education past the third grade, no ability to learn English, no job skills that allow them to be self reliant here where the costs of living are so high will of course tend to vote for liberals ---- especially if they were lured here by the welfare programs in the first place. They need the food stamps, the free health care, the government housing etc --- otherwise they couldn't afford it here and would have to head back home.

That's why you see the "blue" regions growing all along the border and areas of high immigrant populations.

So long as he can pander down his losing margin among Hispanic voters enough to get Term Two, nothing and nobody else matters.
