DON'T SHOP DAY!!! (In protest of the upcoming Bush Amnesty)
Grassroots Effort ^ | American Patrol

Posted on 12/30/2003 10:55:22 AM PST by libertylass

"DON¹T SHOP DAY" IS CATCHING ON!! COMING TO TV!!

A major TV media outlet will do a story on the January 12th -- "Don¹t Shop Day." They have asked for an interview tomorrow!!! SEE http://tinyurl.com/3h5gn

WE NEED TALK RADIO TO DISCUSS THIS ACTION! We need you to call those talk shows!

Remember these talking points:

WHY?

A. Bush political advisors tell him voters have NO PLACE TO GO to protest his amnesty plans since all the Democrat candidates support amnesty. (See: http://www.washtimes.com/national/20030906-120054-6125r.htm)

HOW?

B. Since they think we have NO PLACE TO GO, we should let them know what they are up to by GOING NO PLACE on January 12, 2004, the first day of Bush¹s visit with Mexican President Fox in Mexico City. In other words, don¹t shop, don't go to movies, etc. Stay at home!

NO ONE IS HURT--

C. This is not a boycott. There will be no real economic damage to anyone, just a demonstration of our ability to protest. It's a win-win situation!

THERE IS NO SPONSOR--

D. While American Patrol is supporting this effort, there is no official sponsor. It is a true grassroots effort.

WHAT AMERICANS ARE SAYING:

Here is just some of the email feedback:

+++++++++++++++++++++ Everyone is really getting the word out. I think it's going to have a big impact. -- Along the same lines I think we should add: Make No Bank Deposits that day. Do not pay any bills (from the 9th-12th), and no online shopping either. -- Sincerely, Shanna in Arizona +++++++++++++++++++++++++ I did a search for historical events for the days between now and Jan.12th when President Bush will meet with President Fox, and the day when hundreds of thousands of Americans will not do ANY shopping. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tuesday is the anniversary of the U.S.- Mexico border. Wednesday is the anniversary of the opening of Ellis Island. We will add another day: January 12, 2004 - the American people protested illegal immigration with their pocketbook. Barbara V. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The no shop day on 1/12/04 could stop Bush dead in his amnesty tracks if it catches on, and I very much think it will. My friends and family are spreading the word fast. The media is always writing about the great economic clout of the Latino lobby to make driver's licenses and Latino benefits happen. This could be a demonstration of REAL economic power that could upstage Bush/Fox in Monterrey Mexico on 1/12/04. This Bush-amnesty counter-measure is a brilliant idea. Suddenly we don't have to be observers watching our citizenship, sovereignty, and laws being thrown away. L.B., Riverside, CA ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

No, we're talking about some hysterical ramblings about a non-existent blanket amnesty for misdemeanor economic refugees, and how some losers are wasting their time with a leftist-style whiney boycott of businesses.

Realistically, if you can't muster enough votes to effect any political changes, does any sane person really think a one-day economic boycott of the Democrat-labeled 'evil' (and non-unionized) WalMart will matter an iota? Enjoy your irrelevance.

If any of these immigration warriors ever uttered the name "Al Qaida" I'd probably lose control of my bowels. That aspect of the illegal immigration discussion, which has huge national security import, doesn't seem to register with the spontaneous combustion crew here on FR.

Anyone who maintains this isn't an anti-Mexican movement is a liar.

How many more millions of illegals should we wait to cross over before we voice our displeasure? We're somewhere around 10 million now. Is 50 million enough? 100?

Methinks AmericanPatrol.com is being paranoid, though I appreciate their efforts in their private border patrolling.

You think?

Anyone in America that isn't *extremely* concerned is either in a coma or just plain stupid.

Can anyone imagine the millions more headed this way if the millions of other illegal criminals that have broken our laws are rewarded?

Take a good look at some of our cities nowadays.

There is no other more dangerous, more threatening issue facing America.

A government that cannot or will not stop this massive invasion, will itself eventually become illegitimate.

The havoc and chaos that is being created by this epic invasion is titanic.

I'll support any measure that will get the attention of the political elite in DC.

Lol, do you know I actually tried to use a Spanish/English dictionary? I know it was just selling Avon door to door, but a customer is a customer, you know? It got too frustrating, so I gave up.

This is not an anti-Mexican movement, it's an anti-illegal immigrant movement. BIG difference. You sound just like the L.A. Times!

I'm gone........

Some folks just can't see what's on the horizon.

Very good of you. But say that it IS in fact a "crap plan", and Bush's critics are correct, will you only "voice up" as you say?

Yes I will .. but I doubt some here will believe that .. think I'm wrong .. stick around, I'm sure some will start accusing me of things I never said

I doubt mere protest would grab Bush's attention. Would you deny him your vote?

Considering that I am not a single issue voter and that I do like most of the things Bush has done for this country and the fact that it is for President of the United States

Yes I will vote for him again. There ain't a chance in hell that I will vote for Howard Dean

However, there are other ways to get the GOP's attention. Bush isn't the only republican up for re-election

It's too bad that Karen999's post was deleted. If it was still up, I could point out that she didn't advocate killing anyone. She said to dig out a trench, plant mines, and flood it. If any foreign nationals knowingly tried to cross, it wouldn't be murder...it would be suicide.

And it was a typical predictable response and total waste of bandwidth. The problem that I was trying to shift the focus to was this idea of closing the border that ... permeates these threads. We don't just have 1600 miles of border to contend with.

It's apparent that this amnesty/illegal immigration hot button is the anti-Bush issue the gracelessly aging economic losers, dimwits and con artist third party types are going to rally around in 2004. Free Republic will be quite a little love nest of xenophobic hate and ignorance from now until November. The molemen are just getting going! >>>>>

If you want to support a gov't that now 'chooses' the laws it wants to enforce.....& 'chooses' who they will enforce them on, that is your choice.

But WHICH laws will the gov't 'choose ' to enforce next???

Your right that we have to recognize them, for the criminals they are and deal with them. I realize that there are other ways for people to come in illegally, but the majority is from Mexico over the border. If we would beef up the patrols, use technology that we have, etc. We can stem the tide. Call it pitch fork attitude, but the fact is they broke the law and they need to be punished, not rewarded. It should not matter if they flew in or what ever, if they are here illegally and the cops or who ever come across them, they should get their butts kicked out.

What you are saying that anyone that steals are car deserves to be rewarded with a new Ferrari.

Bush wants to grant amnesty to over 8 million illegal aliens in this country.

This must be the twilight zone version of Free Republic

On another thread, anyone who derides or protests Bush is a Dean Supporter and definitiley not a "True Conservative"...

I am so confused...

Beam me up Scotty...

That's a stupid idea. Why wait for details when you can save time, beat the rush, and be among the very first to panic, sound the alarm, and freak out? That's the much more sensible way ;0)

Yes I guess .. but it's been a stressful month for me .. I'm not really in the mood for more stress

I think I'll take the wait and see attitude for now

Worthy of a tri-peat because we have evidence of this in that CNN has been running what seems like a nightly special on it for months. Suddenly its a concern to them and its always Bush's fault.

We are suppose to slam and bash President Bush for something he hasn't said or done yet???>>>>>

No, we're trying to *protest* ANOTHER band-aid fix to the illegal problems.

Please read the idea's in # 165.

They also enclude the US demand that the mexican gov't become the 'good neighbor' they have always expected us to be.

HELLO......Bush says we can fix countries on the other side or the world, WHY NOT NEXT-DOOR???

We made the Mach 4 Razor too. I don't see what it has to do with patrolling 8000+ miles of borders and 80,000+ miles of shoreline.

I keep hearing the President respond with "I am against amnesty."

I don't have the exact quotes, but

in 2001, GWB said "If an anmesty bill reaches my desk, I'll sign it."

in 2003, GWB said "I am against blanket amnesty."

Just before 9-11-01, an amnesty bill was almost passed out of the House and Senate. Senator Byrd stopped it. Yeh, the Democrat. He can do some things right.

Then 9-11, and amnesty was sort of shelved--until after the 2002 elections. The RNC put out word before the 2002 elections that amnesty, as an issue was "off the table", meaning to the Republican candidates--don't mention it, yeh or nah. (That RNC memo has been circulated and posted and buried by the staunch GWB Republicans.)
