DON'T SHOP DAY!!! (In protest of the upcoming Bush Amnesty)
Grassroots Effort ^ | American Patrol

Posted on 12/30/2003 10:55:22 AM PST by libertylass

"DON¹T SHOP DAY" IS CATCHING ON!! COMING TO TV!!

A major TV media outlet will do a story on the January 12th -- "Don¹t Shop Day." They have asked for an interview tomorrow!!! SEE http://tinyurl.com/3h5gn

WE NEED TALK RADIO TO DISCUSS THIS ACTION! We need you to call those talk shows!

Remember these talking points:

WHY?

A. Bush political advisors tell him voters have NO PLACE TO GO to protest his amnesty plans since all the Democrat candidates support amnesty. (See: http://www.washtimes.com/national/20030906-120054-6125r.htm)

HOW?

B. Since they think we have NO PLACE TO GO, we should let them know what they are up to by GOING NO PLACE on January 12, 2004, the first day of Bush¹s visit with Mexican President Fox in Mexico City. In other words, don¹t shop, don't go to movies, etc. Stay at home!

NO ONE IS HURT--

C. This is not a boycott. There will be no real economic damage to anyone, just a demonstration of our ability to protest. It's a win-win situation!

THERE IS NO SPONSOR--

D. While American Patrol is supporting this effort, there is no official sponsor. It is a true grassroots effort.

WHAT AMERICANS ARE SAYING:

Here is just some of the email feedback:

+++++++++++++++++++++ Everyone is really getting the word out. I think it's going to have a big impact. -- Along the same lines I think we should add: Make No Bank Deposits that day. Do not pay any bills (from the 9th-12th), and no online shopping either. -- Sincerely, Shanna in Arizona +++++++++++++++++++++++++ I did a search for historical events for the days between now and Jan.12th when President Bush will meet with President Fox, and the day when hundreds of thousands of Americans will not do ANY shopping. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tuesday is the anniversary of the U.S.- Mexico border. Wednesday is the anniversary of the opening of Ellis Island. We will add another day: January 12, 2004 - the American people protested illegal immigration with their pocketbook. Barbara V. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The no shop day on 1/12/04 could stop Bush dead in his amnesty tracks if it catches on, and I very much think it will. My friends and family are spreading the word fast. The media is always writing about the great economic clout of the Latino lobby to make driver's licenses and Latino benefits happen. This could be a demonstration of REAL economic power that could upstage Bush/Fox in Monterrey Mexico on 1/12/04. This Bush-amnesty counter-measure is a brilliant idea. Suddenly we don't have to be observers watching our citizenship, sovereignty, and laws being thrown away. L.B., Riverside, CA ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"But a round-up like we had in WWII of Japanese-Americans? I can't see Americans having the stomach for that, and rightfully so"

Then we were dealing with Japanese who were largely American citizens. Not the same thing, although I can understand the reasoning behind what they did then as well. I wouldn't have minded at all seeing a similar stance taken for the purpose of ridding the country of Islamic miseasterners.

Nor will he ever SAY it!

Some mid-level offical will announce it at a sparsely-attended press conference, if that.

And it won't be called "amnesty" either. Give Karl Rove time to come up with some non-offensive phrase for this most outrageous violation of America's integrity.

Why would I want to do that? I doubt any illegal aliens will be taking my job anytime in the near, or distant future...

It's too bad that Karen999's post was deleted. If it was still up, I could point out that she didn't advocate killing anyone. She said to dig out a trench, plant mines, and flood it.

If any foreign nationals knowingly tried to cross, it wouldn't be murder...it would be suicide.

I do not support amnesty. I support deportation, with the receiving countries footing the bill.

That goes without saying, we all know the quote.

The point is that what he is saying is not genuine and honest with respect to what he will do, those words were chosen very specifically to act as a buffer for when the realities of his plan come to light.

There will be amnesty, it will just not be blanket. After all if the amnesty only covers 95% of the illegals it's not blanket right?

Typical. Here comes the "R" word folks!!!!!!

Be sure to read my other posts, OK? My father was Latin and I love the Latin culture, hence I used the Mexican Restaurant example to be snide to the other poster. Mexican food is my favorite and probably where I would go if I was not going to support our fight.

Spitting out feathers with that crow?

It's apparent that this amnesty/illegal immigration hot button is the anti-Bush issue the gracelessly aging economic losers, dimwits and con artist third party types are going to rally around in 2004. Free Republic will be quite a little love nest of xenophobic hate and ignorance from now until November. The molemen are just getting going! Viva Tancredo*! Viva Tancredo! LOL

Worthy of a repeat.

What ever plan they come up with .. I will be reading the whole thing, including the details and not just the Title Heading

If it's a crap plan .. then I'll voice up

But I can't voice up till I know exacty what plan they choose to use

That, and apparently a lot of people who fear losing their jobs to an expected flood of illegals - and if they are in fear of their jobs, everyone else is expected to be as well... Me, I'm not going to sweat it...

It's the people on Visas that I worry about... and not about job losses, but things like September 11th... That is where the real threat lies, imho...

What have we been talking about here CJ? We've been talking about displaced AMERICAN workers, we have been talking about Spanish being the next majority language. I thought my examples were pretty witty. You need to go elsewhere if all you can do is use the race card. It's old fodder......

How's those feathers again?

That's a stupid idea. Why wait for details when you can save time, beat the rush, and be among the very first to panic, sound the alarm, and freak out? That's the much more sensible way ;0)

So let me get this straight

We are suppose to slam and bash President Bush for something he hasn't said or done yet???

When you come up with a workable solution, you have my vote for president.>>>>>

Have you read # 165 ??

The continuing 'band -aid' fixes are not working. We need a plan that puts an END to illegal immgration.

btw....both my nieces (mid 20's) have 'choosen' to have only one child, because ! that's all they can afford, and 2 our schools/cities are becoming such bad places for children.

Very good of you. But say that it IS in fact a "crap plan", and Bush's critics are correct, will you only "voice up" as you say? I doubt mere protest would grab Bush's attention. Would you deny him your vote?

2. Get legislation through Congress that would enable States to deny goodies to Illegals, a la Prop #187.

I agree that removing benefits for illegals is the top priority to slowing the immigration.

4: Beef up Border Security with manpower, resources, and a Volunteer Reserve, if necessary. No troops, and no messing with posse comitatus, this should be a civilian effort.

This is just wasted I think. It might slow the assault from Mexico but we have like 8000 miles of border and 88,000 miles of coastline (islands) + shipping + flights. Its not the solution which everyone here tauts as "simple. just close the border".

No 5., 6., and 7. deal with capture and deportation. Again this doesn't work. You can deport a thousand illegals and two weeks later every one of them will be back.

8: Seize the assets of businesses knowingly hiring Illegals under the RICO Act, as they are ongoing criminal enterprises. Prosecute executives who knowingly hire Illegals.

This is interesting however it has the ability to greatly impact our economy (ala a media on-slaught against Wal-Mart in which its very questionable that they knew).

9: Compile biometric information on Illegals, and declare that they will be permanently ineligible for immigration and citizenship.

Excellent -- but I doubt it would have any effect on stopping illegals because their situation often demands the need to try.

10: .....publicized cases of enforcement throughout the Lower 48 will result in millions of Illegals deporting themselves.

I seriously doubt that. They have a lot to lose by leaving and nothing to gain. I didn't see imprisonment -- which I don't think we should be responsible for.

11. and 12. I agree with this only if it provides exclusions. If an American can show that they are able to support the family member and the family member is not eligble for work then I don't see the problem. I.e. elderly parents that will be left alone in Mexico.

13..17 are excellent.

18: Establish a guest worker program where an initial bond is posted by the Illegal and his employer, say $500 each, with more withheld from the Illegal's earning, as security for his departure from the US by the specified date. Guest worker visas must be applied for in the workers' countries of origin, and participants are only eligible to be employed by their sponsoring employer.

Bingo. Further I would say that I don't see a problem if an employer is able to take a case to the federal government and say "look I have business here and I've been trying to fill positions for 2 months and I cannot get anyone to fill them -- I can use some foreign workers." So long as they have proof of their effort then the government should be able to allow the employer to secure the work permit.

I expect my President to uphold the laws of the land. I do not give a pass just because I voted for him. Xenophobic and homophobic, are words used by those who can't stand others being non-politically correct. You have lost your credibility here.

Have to leave folks. It's been fun. On the 12th, just do all you can to help us make a statement to Bush while he's dining with V.Fox. I have promised my 16 year old son to hit the movies today. The 3rd part of "Lord of the Rings" is calling out to us.

Will check up on the sensical and non-sensical posts here when I get back.
