Their mission: to remake political journalism and, quite possibly, democracy itself. The plan: to run an end around big media by becoming publishers on the Internet.

I don't think Drudgereport is a blog. There is no diary. It's an online tabloid sheet that derives it's content primarily from other sources and links to it. A blog is an ongoing vanity post somewhere.

Most make no pretense of objectivity.

Sure. What we need are more journalists who make a pretense of objectivity but are really partisian to the bone.

" Dean, whom bloggers like to cite as Exhibit A of the impact of the medium,..."

Anyone else notice it is right-leaning blog sites that dominate? In fact the left does so poorly they (e.g.,those that would promote the sites) have to find and list sites few have ever heard of (or read about until now).

There is a FReeper named wretchard that may be the author of Belmont Club. The writing style seems similar anyway.

His blog is absolutely one of the most perceptive and well-written out there.

One in the same. I was particularly interested in his/her analysis during the invasion of Iraq.
