If you wish to question authority, why are you hanging around on the Net. Make yourself a poster, go to the place where you want to protest. All you are doing here is loweriing the conversation, embarassing yourself, looking like the paranoid whiny fool that you are. You refer to yourself as a peasant,,well, you said it, we didn't. We just ask you to grant us the right to have a conversation without tinfoil all around us.

"Whether people choose to ignore these warnings is their business .. but no one can say they weren't warned"
Amen. They're just trying to give us the most information possible. There's another thread about the warning about almanacs. Yeah, it sounds kinda funny on the surface, but I don't get the derision and comments about the boy who cried wolf over there. Since when is it crying wolf to say "Hey, we've noticed something, just giving you this as extra information to assess."
To: Mulder
The press conference is about armed sky marshals.

No, he should not get an underling to do his dirty work. The threat is taken much more seriously when Ridge makes the announcement himself. Ridge obviously doesn't want people to let down their guard, thinking that the Christmas attacks were thwarted. There is obviously more information about attacks that are planned for New Years and through the next two months.

I also would like to know what you have done for the country. Not for yourself personally, but for the nation. I'd like your answer to that question.
To: MEG33
MEG, you seem to be the "newest" Freeper who gets it!
This is very serious, It is our responsibility to be on alert, just more so at this time!!!!
After spending the 90's ignoring all kinds of warnings it is very hard to read this garbage -from mostly newbies, but not all!!!

Tom Ridge and all are really caught between a rock and a hard place. They're criticized for issuing alerts, criticized for not issuing specific enough alerts . . . but you can sure bet they'd be criticized if an attack took place and no alert was issued, or one that was specific was wrong, or not specific enough.
Personally, my view is that they're doing what they think is best for the country. If they were all Dems in there, I would NOT believe that. But the administration as a whole consists of practicing Christians. Pres. Bush has proven that he will do what he feels is right for the country, and the safety of our country, regardless of what the polls say.
Just MHO, of course! :-)
It will be interesting to see what the 2:30 announcement is all about. God bless and keep us all safe.

The alert codes are more for governmental actions than for the normal citizen. Each elevation in the code initiates different actions by local and federal authorities...

Naw, he's changing the color codes.
Red will become vermillion, orange will be citrine, yellow will become topaz ochre, blue will be cerulean, and green becomes French chartreuse. He's also adding another color -purple, which be known as "diffuse sunset glow lilac" to mark any occasion on which he is making a speech.

Hmmm. I agree with you on one level, I've been baffled by the lack of interest in making the borders more secure. Granted, we're talking about a *lot* of territory to cover, but we all know there is much more that can be done. In that case it seems like political correctness has overtaken common sense.
But on the other hand, I don't see that unfortunate border issue as negating the worth of the other warnings we receive. I still take them seriously.

Love the cat pictures!
We have three dogs, and they're vigilant about protecting us from the wind, and blowing leaves, and the occasional small rodent who wanders on our deck. I feel safe!
