Your compassion is noble but misplaced in this instance. You see poor Corrie was infected by an hereditary disease called stupidity (aka liberalism). Her parents passed it on to her, and were she to become a wife and mother she would have certainly passed it on to her children.

She would never have arrived at maturity and wisdom. She was not a rebellious child but a child who was doing her very best to be just as stupid and liberal as her parents. Children infected with stupidity to such a degree never grow out of it. Instead they become a virus to human society.

You can feel sorrow for her death, but if you love freedom and your fellow man than you should be happy that at least she died before giving birth to another nitwit.

On further thought, I must say, I sympathize with the sympathizers of the Corries here. (MEMO to DU: here's one non-meanspirited conservative for ya!) The jokes here fall flat don't you think? Imagine, if you will, receiving the remains of your loved one in a Federal Express envelope, with some dirt or asphalt still attached to the bottom side. Did they have to purchase a double wide plot in a cemetery?

I don't know either, but I do know that if the entire damn Palestinian culture would stop the hell glorifying to the sky the murder of innocent Israeli children, and literally celebrating in the streets any time someone slaughters innocent Israelis, and take upon themselves the responsibility to live as decent human beings instead of as evil personifications of Satan himself, there's quite a good chance that the situation and living conditions of Palestinians would improve.

Aaaaah, another Rachel Corrie thread and the ensuing irreverant comments that always seem to follow. I'd like to add my perspective to this in light of some who have been offended by the coarseness of my fellow FReepers.

First, the comments on this thread have been real tame in light of other threads posted on the Corrie incident. In times past on other older threads the comments from the forum would shock even the more hardened. Personally, do I laugh at them? Heck yes!

Do I feel a little guilty? Nope.

It's called "gallows humor," people. It's a psychological reaction to seeing and dealing with horrible and shocking circumstances, and anybody here who has worked in the field of law enforcement, EMS/Fire Rescue, or served in the military and experienced the horrors of war, or known someone who has, knows exactly what I am talking about. There are many here at FR. Any cop or city fire agency paramedic who, married with children; two or three for example, after scrapping up the remains of a mother and her kids like his off the street after they were creamed by a drunk who walks out without a scratch; sitting on the curb in total bewilderment, has to cope somehow. Most turn to gallows humor—especially if they don't come from some type of faith background—to try and cope with the madness. How about an Israeli rescue worker cleaning up the Maxim restaraunt in Haifa? What about any Jewish FReeper here who has family and loved ones living in Israel and is, for all intents and purposes, a walking target for Arafat and his assassins?

Any FReeper around here for any length of time around here and follows the events of the Middle East and has objectively researched the history of the Arab/Israeli conflict and is on any one of the many good Middle East 'Ping' lists is on the fifty yard line of the same type of insanity and madness and sees first hand the unjustified, blind hatred of the Arab world for the Jewish Nation and America.

Rachel Corrie died because of her ideas. Her misguided, ill informed, terrorist supporting, Democrat endorsed, downright goofy beliefs with no basis in truth, balance, or law. That's just insane. And there are many more of her type, being raised by the same type of people as her parents, and encouraged by bogus "academics" like Chomsky and Zinn, cultural Marxists which pollute our institutes of higher learning and the Arena of the War of Ideas with their leftist cancer. It is warped and sick.

Likewise the ideas of Islam—and politics is simply religion externalized, especially in the Middle East—which is the true "oppressor" of the Arabs, continues to be fed and wielded throughout that whole region by bitter, hateful, controlling and power hungry Mullahs and Imams, all but guaranteeing a future conflict with the Jewish nation—which the Arabs will surely lose.

So, in my case at least, I come to FR to try and deal with this insanity; this insane madness perpetrated on the world by the skillfully deployed lies of Arafat, the PA, the EU, and their aiders and abettors in the Democrat party and certainly DU, just like the Jews in Israel have to deal with the fallout of it every day, in the bombings and the shootings and the mindless murder of their fellow citizens.

And yes, I laugh at morbid and callous comments in response to the senseless and pointless suicide of people like Corrie—and it was just that, a suicide. And no, I personally don't disparage or condemn anyone else who does, because there is an undeniable therapy in the laughter ("Slings and Arrows" has an especially devious knack at this).

Because after you pray, all you can do is watch ... and cope.

I'm sorry; I should have been more specific. Paideia is the Atlanta metro area's main scholastic safe harbor for the loony left.

And apropos of the larger issue here -

When the news first arrived of Ms. Corrie and her lack of attention to basic safety rules around heavy earthmoving equipment (I used to work for a highway construction company, and believe me, she screwed up big time), I DID feel sorry for her, thinking she was just a misguided and naive child.

Then I read the follow-on stories about her upbringing, her burning the American flag and preaching hate to little Pali kids, her loony parents, and their cozying up to Arafat of all people. I don't feel sorry for her, or them, any more.

To me, these dyed in the wool America-haters who go abroad and preach violence and hatred are like vicious, rabid dogs. They may once have been very nice dogs. They may once have been retrainable, or could have been protected with a vaccine. But once they reach the point that we see with these people, they are so dangerous that we feel sorry for them at our peril.

We used to know what to call folks who went over to Nazi Germany, marched with the brownshirts, advocated the mass slaughter of Jews, and spoke against America. (Remember, the Nazis said all they wanted was a "true German homeland".)
