"The capture of Saddam Hussein does not mean the end of violence in Iraq. We still face terrorists who would rather go on killing the innocent than accept the rise of liberty in the heart of the Middle East. Such men are a direct threat to the American people,..."

The terrorists are still out there. Al Queda still exists (SH's ties to AQ are still in question). The islamic fundamentalists (radicals) are still out there hating the US and Isreal. We just went to Orange.
How are the haters of liberty in the mid east a threat to us, if not through terrorism? I'm very glad SH is no longer at large, but don't think he had any major role in international terrorism.

Terrorism & Saddam

1) Sponsor of suicide attacks in Israel; $25,000 to the family of each sucide bomber. These attacks have killed Americans

2) Sponsor of Abu Sayyef, the Islamist terror group in the Philippines; this group kidnaps and occasionally kills Americans

3) Sponsor of attacks against Americans patrolling the no-fly zones; there were 250,000 sorties over Iraq from 1991 to 2003.

4) Sponsor of Abu Abbas, architect of Achille Lauro hijacking

5) Sponsor of terrorist Abu Nidal

6) Most likely a sponsor of the 1993 Trade Center Bombing; terrorists found with stolen Kuwaiti passports obtained during the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait

7) Sponsor of assassination attempts on US presidents

8) Killed American soldiers in Gulf Wars I & II

Good riddance to him.
