December 29, 2003 -- THE U.S. Postal Service on Jan. 20 will formally unveil a first-class postage stamp, the latest in its Black Heritage series, honoring Paul Robeson, the renowned actor-singer-orator-activist - and unapologetic Stalinist.

Does Robeson deserve what the Postal Service rightly calls "one of the nation's highest recognitions"? It's not an easy question to answer - because of all the many Hollywood radicals now worshiped as political heroes, Robeson's legacy is the most complex.

Guy Burgess, British diplomat, flamboyant homosexual and one of the notorious Cambridge spies, was posted to the Washington in the 1950's. He was told that three topics were off-limits in America at that time, race, homosexuality and Communism. To which he replied, "Oh, so I mustn't make a pass at Paul Robeson."

Right, "steadfast foe of hatred."

Lenin knew better. "We must hate," he said. "Hatred is the basis for communism."

Robeson was a hater and a traitor to America.

Unfortunately, the United States Postal Service management (not the carriers, clerks, truckers) are jam-packed with socialists and communists from the top down to the local union steward.

One only has to get ahold of the postal service's union voting flyers (they shotgun mail them just before elections) to see what's on the mind of postal management.

Biggest bunch of crooks this side of the mafia.

If you are working for the USPS, get ahold of any of the recent year's union flyers.

Can you?

Oh - and I definitely stand by the "crooks" part also.

Robeson was a hater and a traitor to America.

The Paul Robeson stamp is one in a series of controversial poltical figures. Liberals hated it when the Ayn Rand stamp was published. Now it's our turn to scream.

Heck, just refuse to purchase the stamp. Leave them with thousands of unsellable stamps.

Paul Robeson may have been a devout Communist idealist, but let's be accurate and state that in his many trips to the Soviet Union he was never allowed to "see" the real Russia. The American communist party funded by the East spun the lies so tight, that many of their adherents bought the line that the western media was biased.
I'm not making excuses, but Robeson was afterall just another Hollywood actor...they've never been known for their critical thinking skills.

Moral relativism at work again. Call them both "controversial" and Robeson, a traitorous communist, is given the same moral standing as Rand, a defender of freedom.

Robeson was also an attorney.
