Limbaugh lurches to the left
St Peterburg's Times ^ | December 29, 2003

Posted on 12/29/2003 6:17:39 AM PST by Alissa

Didn't Rush Limbaugh used to be pro-law and order?

Now that the once conservative commentator finds himself on the wrong side of a police investigation, he and his lawyers are accusing prosecutors and other members of the law enforcement community of concocting a vast, politically motivated conspiracy against him.

Not even the most linguini-spined liberal would have the gall to spew such irresponsible nonsense.

Limbaugh recently completed treatment for an acknowledged addiction to prescription drugs, and Florida prosecutors are investigating evidence that he may have broken the law by going "doctor shopping" to acquire his massive supplies of OxyContin and other painkillers.

A West Palm Beach judge ruled last week that prosecutors had established sufficient cause to examine Limbaugh's medical records, but Limbaugh's lawyers succeeded in getting the records resealed while they appeal the decision.

Either way, the judge and prosecutors have agreed that Limbaugh's medical records will not be made public. By all accounts, police, prosecutors and the courts have have taken great pains to protect Limbaugh's civil rights.

But Limbaugh claims that his problems stem from a massive conspiracy on the part of his political enemies in law enforcement.

"The Democrats still cannot defeat me in the arena of political ideas," Limbaugh said on his Tuesday radio show. "And so now they are trying to do so in the court of public opinion and the legal system."

Limbaugh used to defend the legal system - and he used to ridicule citizens who claimed that their constitutional rights had been violated by police and prosecutors. But now Limbaugh, who is fortunate enough to be able to afford the representation of celebrity attorney Roy Black and a team of defense lawyers, has joined the conspiracy nuts.

The people who have been hunting for someone to host a new left-wing radio talk show may have found their man.

Oh really? May I suggest we recall Bill and Hillary Clinton, and their Vast Right Wing conspiracy?

Garbage!

There is a clear conspiracy against him. That is why he is being accused of "doctor shopping".

"Doctor Shopping", if indeed a legal violation is something anyone in the country could be accused of, but they happen to be singling out him.

Do you really expect everyone to be stupid enough to believe that a prosecutor who regularly prosecutes doctor shopping as a crime has randomly chosen Rush Limbaugh to go after.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Democratic stronghold Palm Beach home of the voters too stupid to vote right, so they have to have election suits, now going after Limbaugh in a political witchhunt.

""Doctor Shopping", if indeed a legal violation...."

You may want to get up to speed - "doctor-shopping" is simply the name given to

"To withhold information from a practitioner from whom the person seeks to obtain a controlled substance or a prescription for a controlled substance that the person making the request has received a controlled substance or a prescription for a controlled substance of like therapeutic use from another practitioner within the previous 30 days.

It is easy. Follow the money. Look at how much the Palm Beach Prosecutor's office is spending.

Look at the leaks to the press that are flowing from the top out.

Doctor shopping is used against dealers. The dealers accumulate the pills for resale. Doctor shoping is not an end user crime.

Alissa - FWIW - just look where Rush plunked down his multi million$ mansion - right in the middle of the corrupt demonRAT south east Florida, Palm Beach county/Broward County - the area Gore targeted to steal the election. So, politically driven police? Quite possible. Everything there is run by the demonRATS.

You may be right - that exhibit showed purchases from a SINGLE pharmacy - The application pointed out that they were NOT showing all the information they had collected.

Just another opportunity to TRY to attack the right. Lets just see how this comes out. The truth will be told, and then, and only then, will there need to be some judgement. The left gets just a little too emotional about frying a good conservative. SOOOOOOOOO transparent! I would say, get some bourbon, look at the stars, but you lefties need heavy doses of Valium and some cocaine, and dancing in the moon light, kicking, spitting and biting at the air.

The more that the lefties attack, the more they make Rush a sacrificial lamb. The more they push, the better Rush gets. They will do anything to bring him down. They have no earthly idea about what is behind him. The poor bastards, they are being led to the slaughter!

Correction, Doctor shoping is prosecuted as a dealer crime. Despite the ability, Doctor shopping is not prosecuted as a user crime.

""""Title XLVI

I am looking for the history notes on the details of this laws adoption. They describe the history of the legilative intent. They are handy in finding unintended consequences.

I am betting that this will turn around and destroy the attackers of Rush. Rush does have 20 million listeners. Many are not conservatives, many may be thinking this case is going to make a few palm beach politcians vulnerable in primaries.

You sure have some gall, as a poster who's been here less than 10 days, to question the politics of one who has been here over 5 years.

Just because one posts an article, doesn't mean they agree with it.

limosine liberals. It would be a interesting place to do to palm beach what the libertarians want to do to some state. We have the added advantage that the NY Dem. retirees are dying off, literally.

Limbaugh used to defend the legal system - and he used to ridicule citizens who claimed that their constitutional rights had been violated by police and prosecutors.

Did you notice how the Democrat mouse who wrote this editorial threw the above sentence in there as if the reader would simply believe it without question? No sale. Any decent author would cite a couple of examples, preferrably direct quotes, which demonstrate Limbaugh's "ridicule" of "citizens who claimed that their constitutional rights had been violated by police and prosecutors".

I suspect there are no quotes because none exist.

Limbaugh believes in the Constitution, the same one which all Leftists despise. The one with the Fourth Amendment which is supposed to protect him from witchhunts such as this. How is demanding his rights be protected a "lurch to the left"?

Why don't you calm down, Mr. Veteran, sir. I asked her if she agreed with the editorial. She explained that she didn't. I thanked her for the clarification.
