re: You HAVE no message, besides the fact you don't like Mexicans and most other foreigners)))
I just wrote one to Howard Dean, telling him to give it a float. Heck, he's been trying pickup trucks and getting religion.
So it all boils down to racism, eh? Our country does not deserve lawful, orderly immigration, despite the generous legal numbers we allow?

What I find interesting ---- the Republicans had the majority or a good part of the Hispanic vote up and through the Reagan administration. They arranged a blanket amnesty and now are having to fight for all their worth for that vote. 80% of the hispanic vote went to Clinton --- which kind of proves that amnesty pandering isn't as helpful as it might seem at first. You'd think there would have to be no more pandering at all after the 80's amnesty --- but it's the reverse.

It's not the orderliness, or lack thereof, that aggrieves you (see the H1-B angst). It's the fact that immigrants are here at all. Legally or illegally. A blanket issuance of limited duration, legal temporary resident status to all illegals would solve everything, in your mind, right? If it was just a matter of legal visitor status, that is? Nah, that ain't it. I've argued and observed the discourse surrounding this issue on FR for three years. It's become clear to me that a cabal of usual operators, haters and whiners here need and like the issue, and the victimization and sense of siege it provides, too much to do anything meaningful to address it. Blame Bush! Bon Appetit! Fear and loathing make a sumptuous dish for the dark hearted and their con artist handlers. Mmmmm ... crap casserole again!
Sorry to intrude on the fun.
