...and Wendys don't serve anything vaguely resembling "beef" on their products that I have ever been able to tell.Sure looked like beef I was cooking when I was in high school.

I could always use more tips on searching.
For example, I want to post a comment about the spew I heard from Al Franken when he guested on Prarie Home Companion tonight - but I'm having a hard time being sure someone hasn't already started such a thread - or even for sure where it should be properly posted. I know enough to add
the link: and excerpt a brief bit of the program notes - but what's the right forum (if any)?

And dang it, can't you make the "Spell" button press itself so that I don't misspell "Prairie" from now on...?

I do not know anything about you. I enjoy FR. I have no complaints. However, a caller on C-Span several weeks ago said that FR was just a web site by a "guy in a wheel chair"> That was all I heard. I took it to be an attack that whoever is in charge is scamming the users. Hey, I do not believe that but it was on C-Span. You probably heard about that already. Anyhow, GBY and your endeavor. I support you as I can.

Sure looked like beef I was cooking when I was in high school. Flipped my weight in burgers myself, way back when.
IMHO, "real" burgers start with raw ground chuck with egg yolk, spices, minced fresh onion, a pinch or two of cornstarch, and Worcestershire sauce added. I never considered those frozen hockey pucks they dole out at Mickey Ds to be beef.

No, I hadn't heard about that caller, but thank you very much.

Thanks for the news link about beef prices falling. I expect the same of fuel prices; but the administration will probably wait until Sep/Oct of next year for significant drops.

Jim,
Sounds like the caller to C-Span is threaten by the impact of JimRob and FR.
To: Jim Robinson
GRRRR.
I'm glad you're bigger than to be bothered by such idiots but it still greatly annoys me to hear such idiotic clap tripe. Maybe it's jealousy.

At the risk of having my good, brilliant, intelligent image shattered all over the earth, I am asking what in the heck are you saying here? Oh you should know better than to ask Robt to elucidate. He hallucinates more often than he educates. And his edification process is quite bizarre. ;-)

Happy New Year, Fred.

That was my first thought when I heard that caller. C-Span callers are a trip during working days. I work on-call and do not have to do the M-F routine. C-Span is usually different (more balenced) on week-ends.

"I believe in mom, apple pie and baseball. I believe in defending our nation when threatened or attacked. I believe in the United States Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. I believe that our rights come from God and that we're all to be treated equally before the law. I'm pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, and pro-gun. I'm for less government, less taxes and less corruption. I'm for equal rights for all, but not special rights for special interests. I'm for the traditional family and against the feminist/homosexualist agenda. I'm for allowing God back into our schools and getting government the hell out. I'm for getting the US out of the UN and kicking the UN out of the US. I'm opposed to liberalism and opposed to judicial activism. I'm opposed to socialism and I'm for freedom. Have no idea if that makes me a conservative in your eyes or not and could care less one way or the other."
Hope you don't mind, Jim; I 'stole' that and placed it on my homepage as an elegant reminder of what FReeperdom is all about. Thank you. Best to you and your family for the New Year.
Cheers,
Mike.
