Liberals: Always Sympathetic To The Plight Of Evil

By Bob Ellis

CLICK HERE Toogood Reports [Christmas Weekender, December 28, 2003; 12:01 a.m. EST] URL: http://ToogoodReports.com/ When video of the capture of Saddam Hussein was broadcast across the world, most of us cheered and some gave thanks to God. There were those, however, who were plunged into an abyss of grief, and not all of them were Democrats.

A number of other liberals and enablers of despots have begun a chorus of whining about the "humiliation" and "loss of dignity" to Saddam. We could have shot him and broadcast the pictures like the Romanians did when they overthrew the dictator Nicolai Ceausescu. Liberals should have been glad we didn't parade him through the streets of Baghdad, chained up and walking behind a Humvee. They could have been grateful for the video that showed we didn't beat the stuffing out of him.

But isn't that how liberals always react? They are always more concerned about the criminal than the triumph of good. They seem to have an unswerving predisposition to excuse evil and call good evil. In the end, they are always sympathetic and full of remorse when evil takes it on the chin. They are always there to protect and defend evildoers.

• We have millions of people in the United States today who broke the law to get here and stay here. Yet do we see a major push to find them, prosecute them and deport them? No! Instead, even the Secretary of Homeland Defense wants to grant them amnesty! Break our laws and get rewarded. What a nice message!

• Rodney King leads police on a drunken, high-speed chase and then continually resists arrest when cornered by the police. Cops who arrested this example of human scum were found guilty of violating King's civil rights. King was awarded $3.8 million for driving drunk and resisting arrest.

• When a man passed out in front of a restaurant in Cincinnati a few months ago, got belligerent with paramedics and attacked police officers, the concern was instantly for this drug-abusing criminal who brought on his own death.

• When American Taliban John "Johnny bin" Walker was captured in Afghanistan a couple of years ago, oh, how the liberal's hearts bled for his treatment.

• We capture a bunch of terrorists in Afghanistan and send them to the tropical climate of Guantanamo Bay where they are fed and cared for better than most of them have probably known in their lives. Yet a bunch of liberals are sooooo concerned that their precious rights of cold-blooded killers who wouldn't enjoy ANY rights in their home countries.

• Convicted criminals are allowed to burden taxpayers with frivolous lawsuits such as: complaints about mail service, denial of desserts while in segregation, injuries sustained while attempting an escape, an inmate tried to sue himself for $5 million on the grounds that he had gotten drunk and caused himself to violate his religious beliefs by committing a crime but wanted the state to pay the $5 million because he had no money to pay himself, and an endless list of other silliness that shouldn't even make it to a courtroom.

• Our silly legal system entertains lawsuits against gun manufacturers for crimes committed by evil people. Instead of holding murderers accountable, we shower them with pity because their mama put them in a corner and fed them biscuits with a slingshot.

• Michael Jackson was accused of child molestation and after police gathered evidence at Jackson's ranch, he was charged with the crime. Jackson even admitted in a televised interview a few years ago that he sleeps with children in his bed. Yet people the world over hold protests with signs professing their love and support for him.

When are we going to pull our heads out and act like adults? Our society behaves like the not-in-control parent who entertains every complaint and protest of a spoiled child. In the end, the parent ends up a disrespected mockery and the child becomes increasingly more evil.

Not everyone is so blind to reality, even in the Arab world. According to the Guardian, Kuwaiti columnist Ahmed al-Robei says Arabs are ignoring the fact that Saddam was a "villain." "The mass graves are not enough to wake the minds of some of us. Are we people who adore despots? It is a sad question,'' he said. He also accused Arabs of "glorifying oppressors and despots and portraying them as the saviors."

I think the Democrat party and the American media could take a few lessons from Mr. Al-Robei.

The 'Left' likes evil because everything they believe in is evil. Socialism, state nannies, anti-American views, anti-capital punishment views, high taxes, support for the scum of the earth, and on and on. (You say Liberal or Left to me I think evil.)

If the liberals want to be consistent, they should arraign Ma and/or Pa Abuser and throw them into jail with the perp. Instead thyey make excuses for everyone!!!

The left's sympathy for crime is not at all altruistic, it is 100% self-serving. Saddam is a classic Socialist. The left can easily see themselves in his shoes. If they were in charge of a country they would start out as narcissistic do-gooders, like Saddam, and Hillary, then go corrupt.

The writer makes some good points, but I think we do need to recognize due process and show compassion. For centuries, Christian tradition held concern for a condemned man's soul even as he was led to the gallows; compassion and justice went together. Today, post-christian culture seems to have splintered into a secular-liberal half, which gushes compassion for evil with no regard for real justice, and a secular-conservative half, which seeks justice without compassion. I think conservatism still retains far more Christian elements than liberalism, but there is a secular-conservative trend away from showing compassion for fear that it would preclude justice.

Compassion is the road to hell. You and you alone are responsible for what you do. Not your grand-ma, grand-dad, mom or pop, or the system. Compassion has gotten us into more trouble than being tough ever has.

If the people of Iraq had done their duty we would not be in Iraq today. However a lot of people in Iraq liked/like Saddam, so I have no compassion for the people in iraq.

As you can guess I have no compassion for compassion.

Are you saying that Saddam and Hillary are/were "do-gooders"?

I have always used that word to describe people who are too stupid or too self-absorbed (narcissistic as you say) to see the natural and probable consequences of their actions.

I think Saddam and Hillary are fully aware of and specifically intend the consequences of their actions -- corrupt from the outset.

I couldn't disagree more with your first sentence and I couldn't agree more with your second.

Feeling or showing true compassion is not an abdication of personal responsibility.

Well, in many cases this is their voter base, thus the power of their party.

If they were to condemn them and their actions, where would they find a large and widely supporting group, as stupid as them, to support their political power base?

The Left believes evil must be better than good... since it hasn't been proven harmful in their eyes - yet.

LIBERALS: "Selectively" Sympathetic to the Plight of Evil

The left believes in totalitarian Socialst govt; they merely disagree with Saddam's methods. They fully recognize, however, that dissent must be crushed to achieve their own paradigm.

Example:

They gave Marxist terrorist Allende the hero revisionist treatment.

They demonized Pinochet, a free marketer, as the anti-Christ.
