David Alan Cedillo, a well-known figure to local police and judges, was found dead this week in a south Lincoln garage.
The 42-year-old Cedillo's body was discovered at about 12:20 p.m., Tuesday inside the garage at 844 Peach St., authorities said. Police suspect he died between 3 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. An autopsy has been scheduled for Cedillo, a chronic alcoholic, but police do not suspect foul play.
Cedillo was no stranger to law enforcement. According to a 2002 Lincoln Journal Star article about chronic local offenders, Lincoln police arrested him 557 times since 1981.
Most of Cedillo's offenses were minor ones -- trespassing, for example -- but in 1998 he began serving a sentence of six to 10 years for first-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony. Authorities suspected he stabbed a man whose car he was attempting to burglarize.
Cedillo was released from state custody on the convictions in March.
Criminal Lawyer says to the DA,
"We had a Nice Run with Cedillo,
a few more like him and we could retire"
