Is there anything worse?

I'm still thinking about it. :O)

shooting down the aircraft would deploy their weaponry.

There are better ways to do it for more accurate targeting and increased concentrations of the toxins.

Plus Nellis airforce base is in the area. They'd be really stupid to try to fly near!

If they hit the Olympic Gardens or the Hard Rock Casino, the wrath of Wackykat will be terrible.

Next thought: Does the reservoir at Hoover dam supply water to many areas? There are other dams in the area, how about them? Could a plane be used to contaminate the water?

Maybe the Hoover Dam is a super structure, but I seem to remember years back...hearing that one of the dams upstream from the Hoover Dam was a sieve.

Now, if the dam upstream were to be hit, and it's holdings let loose, couldn't all that water at least weaken the Hoover?

All this protection around and on the Hoover Dam... I sure hope the people making the big money think outside the box.

I agree. The terrorists know they would have to have the element of surprise on their side to hit us with any success right now, especially while were on high alert.

The questions that keeps ringing in my mind is what is the diversionary tactic.

Yep-this is definately the norm for the Federal Government and a Thursday holiday!

For a number of years I worked with a travel agency that did business with the government, and it is common practice to "give a day off" like that in order to make a long weekend. In fact a number of military bases take every other Friday off as an "energy saving day" - in order to save money...

A devastating strike on the dam would be improbable, IMO. But a crash landing in down town Vegas would be catastrophic and very do-able. Looks like we fended this one off, no thanks to the f*ing Nazi-loving French.

I agree, and it makes more of an impact IMO if the rest of the country/world can watch it real time. I think the media is more likely to have horrific pics in a place crowded with people.

Roger that. Getting them on board, one way or another, is best. I Just wish they could get some common sense going. Maybe an attack on the Eiffel Tower or (unspeakable) worse might finally convince them.

These pukes don't care about the Mob. They only care about a boot placed squarely on their necks, or a bullet shot into their skulls.

Thanks for the info---I did not think much of it when I heard it several weeks ago. But reading the threads & posts this evening, thought I should ask.

Can never be too prepared.

My father's theory is that the French are paying off AQ. and are therefore a source of income for them.

It wouldn't be the first time a bully extorted money from a weakling.

Contaminate with what? Jet fuel? Considering the amount of water involved, it'd take ~9 million gallons of it to contaminate the whole Hoover Dam resevoir. I don't know how much fuel planes usually carry, but I'd venture a guess that it's not quite that much.

That could be interesting but ineffectual. A lot of Americans would cheer.

Yeah, you are probably right. It occurred to me, tho, that just hitting the power grid on the top of the hills on the Nevada side would cause havoc throughout Nevada and Calif.

Assuming Las Vegas was the target, just a crash landing on the strip, even without hitting a major hotel, would shut the town down for months. Terror would trump tourism!
