The alternative energy movement is ruffling the feathers of animal rights activists.

Just put grilles around them, like regular, garden-variety household fans! What is the big deal? Why do we listen to these ass-clowns?

"... the latest research indicates that one to two thousand or more birds are killed each year in the area.

I love it when the eco-nuts eat each other. Assuming "one" means one thousand...how does "research" have such a high error rate ? could this be a WAG for headlines ?

Liberals are divided between those who realize you can't give up on civilization and those who want to return to the Dark Ages. Its true and all the same its a funny sight.

I've seen pictures of these stupid things...could you imagine 5000 of these monstrosities?

Instead of painting them white, paint the base brown, put a chicken wire-mesh screen around the blades (if it's good enough for chickens, it's good enough for the Spotted Brown Owl or what ever is committing mass suicide with these things) and decorate them with fake leaves. I don't think birds fly into trees, or maybe they do!

There! Problem solved! Geez...If more people would just listen to me...

If the wind turbines works as well as the one out here in West Texas, usually only 50% are turning, birds aren't in much danger.

At night with all the red lights on them, winking off and on in the distance, it is some kinda purdy.

It is a quandry, with one of those nasty coal burning plants to replace these terrible killers of winged predators. You have to choose between global warming or nature worship. Problems. Problems.

The older wind mills, ie, Calif first generation turn at a faster rate and are suppose to be tougher on the birds...The new wind generators turn slower and are claimed to be more bird friendly.

I used to read stories in the San Jose Merky News about how eagles and hawks would play in the windmills.

They would fly through the path of the blades, and turn their bodies to avoid the blade as they go by. Then they would circle around and do it again and again.

The Enviro-whackjobs don't want Nuclear power because of the radioactive by-products. They don't want to burn coal because of the pollution and global warming. They don't want to drill for oil in the Artic Refuge because we might hurt some animals. They don't want wind farms because they are unsightly and kill the birdies. What they do want is for us to return to the caves, eating grubs and roots. I say the hell with them.

That is the way I see it also.

Nope, can't do that. The campfire smoke in the cave will destroy the millions of years of developing cave formations.

Also it will force the bats outside where they will die.
