Were the flights in the air? I'd be interested to see the passenger manifests. No doubt the FBI already has. Figures the flights would be from France, who I'm sure has already surrendered.

Is this too serious a thread for French bashing?
(At this point, French bashing is too easy, and thus isn't good sport....)

The bad guys likely presumed (correctly) that the French passengers would have surrendered.

France..the home of the shoe-bomber, right? I hope they caught some people with evil intentions. That would make me feel a little better. I feel sorry for President Bush this year...he will not have a relaxing holiday with his family and he sure could use it. And then next year he will have to look forward to the RATS and the media saying he is totally to blame for 9-11. It's going to be a very tough year. My money is still on President Bush in November 04, though.

France cancels US-bound flights over security
Wed 24 December, 2003 18:45
PARIS (Reuters) - France says that national carrier Air France has cancelled three U.S.-bound flights from Paris due to security concerns.
An Air France spokeswoman confirmed on Wednesday that a flight due to leave Paris at 1235 GMT for Los Angeles had been grounded "for security reasons".
An Interior Ministry spokesman said that two further flights to the United States had also been cancelled. It was not clear whether these flights were bound for Los Angeles or elsewhere.

The report yesterday was flights on Air France or from Mexico where they had increased security, and an "international US airport". Now we know why.
To: cyncooper
Stories yesterday and today from NBC News indicated that some of the intel being picked up contained some very specific data - even including Air France flights and flights from Mexico. This fits in with the concelled flights from Paris - in all likelihood Air France flights.

The french capitulate again!! It was just announced on CNN that the french interior minister announced three flights from paris to L.A. have been cancelled due to "security" concerns. I will post the story as it becomes available. Way to go france....you must be very proud of the way you constantly throw up your hands in surrender! Or is this a way to ruin the holidays for Americans hoping to get home and be with family members for tomorrow??!!

Are they detaining the passengers and crew?
