[history]
A judge resealed Rush Limbaugh's medical records Wednesday, giving the conservative radio commentator's attorneys time to appeal his earlier decision allowing prosecutors to examine the files for evidence Limbaugh illegally purchased painkillers.
Palm Beach Circuit Judge Jeffrey A. Winikoff ordered the records remain sealed for 15 days while Limbaugh's attorneys pursue their appeal. Winikoff had ruled Tuesday that prosecutors could examine the records, but could not make them public.

"Rush is an addict. Says so.
End of story.
He is in treatment."
Sure... every addict only has to admit their addiction and any crimes committed by them before this "revelation" are immediately forgiven.

Whether he fully discloses or not, I guarantee you that some of the bigwigs in Washington and elsewhere that he's palled around with in the past won't be palling around with him or taking his phone calls anymore. It's not a question of friendship, it's strictly business. It's a question of political realities ... they can't afford to be linked with him anymore.

The sad fact is that conservatives don't get to play by the same rules as liberals. I hate that fact down to my very bone marrow, but realistically that fact isn't going to change any time soon. We have to be above suspicion, purer than Caesar's wife, and not go out of our way to give our enemies an opening and ammunition. And that concept is bigger than any one man. Our movement is bigger than any one man.
I've used this analogy before ... we conservatives seem to go out of our way to paint bull's eyes on our cheeks, stick our jaws out and say to our enemies "hit me," and then whine and moan and gripe when our enemies toss a left hook.

There seems to be a lot of chat about the
'same practice - substitute doctor' excuse.
''''''timeout....
The Rush - DrUggie game needs a program.
Perhaps someone could(or already has) look at the search warrant and
match up the names with their practice, and point
out what 'scripts this excuse applies to.

Also, if you or a friend is in chronic pain,
get to know Doctor Dweezil of Palm Beach County Florida,
He's a rockin' dude.

I have no idea what Florida law is. I wonder if it would be criminal to go from doctor to doctor -- even if you do have a medical condition -- and not tell them that you had previously taken oxycontin in order to get a new prescription. Just wondering. I don't know.
But wouldn't that be rather diffcult to pull off when the doctors are in the same office with access to one medical file?
To: mrsmith
"Two of the doctors in FLA were in the same office! The other was a stand in on a day off for the dr treating Rush. Out West, the two doctors were connected to his hearing loss treatment! "If this is the case the prosecutors should be investigated for abuse of power.

Somebody on here last night said that in Florida it's the law that you have to disclose all prescriptions you have to every doctor you see.
That's pretty typical everywhere. You have to fill out the medical form(s) prior to seeing the attending physician and that includes all conditions and medications -- at least it has every time I have had to change doctors over the years.

I'm the only person I know (slightly) who doesn't have at least 4 doctors, sometimes more.

Well, we KNOW he wasn't passed out in a car drooling.
He was conducting an extremely hectic schedule of a 3 hour daily radio show; various other appearances, etc.; travel with his wife... much more than I can accomplish.
So, he had it under enough control to be able to conduct a normal life.

I have had TWO (sometimes THREE) different CONCURRENT Rx's---for the SAME problemNo, I meant stocking up on oxycontins or whatever from those second and thirds, not looking for one that works.

It seems to me that the State Attorney might lose this
issue, and needs a backup plan.
Is there some reason that the prosecutors don't
ask for a subpoena for the records (copies) that the
doctors currently possess, in the event that the records
siezed with the search warrrant must be returned without looking...?

Actually, that was all in the National Enquirer articles. Most of that information came from the maid. I haven't seen any proof that the prosecutor himself is actually leaking, have you? The transcript is long, but here is the info from Black.
An article from October 3rd, 2003, from the ABC News wire. "A high ranking official in Florida has told ABC News some surprising details about the State's investigation of Rush Limbaugh." Two paragraphs down. "But a source close to the investigation told ABC News that Limbaugh's former housekeeper claims she helped Limbaugh purchase thousands of prescription pain pills over a four year period.
The source also says investigators have audio tapes of at least two drug transactions allegedly with Limbaugh's voice, but these were recorded secretly by the former housekeeper, not by the police." On the front page of USA Today, October 3 through 5, 2003, Thursday, "Florida law enforcement sources confirmed to USA Today that Limbaugh is being investigated in Palm Beach as part of a probe into the illegal sale of prescription painkillers.
Although the alleged drug dealers are the primary target, that does not include possible charges being filed against the buyers, the sources say." The National Enquirer of October 21, 2003. "A source close to the investigation involving Rush told the Enquirer that Limbaugh said he's going to cooperate with the probe. Investigators are hearing about his relationship with Wilma Cline, what his side of the story is, said the source." October 10, Associated Press.
And
Last Wednesday I was called by a reporter from the Palm Beach Post and that reporter let it slip that these stories are coming from Mike Edmondson, who was the chief spokesman from the State attorney's office, and now we find out that Mr. Edmondson has been leaking and planting these stories in the press; that he has a symbiotic relationship with the Palm Beach Post who are now writing stories trying to discredit Mr. Limbaugh, trying to make his profession or the practice of his profession discredited, and I think it's an illegitimate purpose that is going on here.

"The sad fact is that conservatives don't get to play by the same rules as liberals."In a nutshell, this is part of the defining character of liberals. In a nation that lives within the Constitution where all people are equal under the law, it makes liberalism impossible. Liberalism is built on double talk and double standards.

What about "judge shopping"? Within the legal community, however, that probably isn't a problem.
