Embarrassed by Saturday night's national television interview, pro football Hall of Famer Joe Namath admitted on Tuesday that he had been drinking and apologized to ESPN reporter Suzy Kolber for saying he wanted to kiss her.

"I was full of some Christmas cheer, certainly too much. It was a festive occasion," Namath said of the gathering of former New York Jets stars who were to be honored at the game at Giants Stadium against the New England Patriots. "I wasn't trying to be rude and crude. I feel awful about what happened, for my family and the Jets. I've been in better Christmas spirits, no pun intended."

As much as Joe was at fault for even doing the interview, it had to be inherently obvious to any casual observer that Joe was in NO SHAPE to be interviewed on National TV. Hell, I saw that in 2 seconds. ESPN ought to be ashamed. BTW, Joe is divorced.

As I mentioned before, I didn't see the incident, so I can only go by what I've read, but my point stands that she apparently handled the situation well. Divorced or not, it's inappropriate for him to ask for a kiss during an interview. As far as rather she should have done the interview in the first place, one might guess that it was all arranged before hand, and not an impromptu interview.

Suzie Kolber has very nice lips. They must have mesmerized poor, drunken, wife-missing Joe.

Call it the "Laurie Dhue" effect.

>>Jets suffered at my superior Patriots.

Yup...Pats all the way :) (Perhaps slightly fitting that in the first Super Bowl after 9/11/01, the winning team
was the _Patriots_...)

Will Ted Kennedy, er, ah, demand equal time and, er,
ask to (hic!) be interviewed by, ah, her during a Pats
playoff game? :)

Joe did a few plays, some commercials

About 10 years ago, I dated this whackjob liberal gal for a bit who produced a commercial for Joe Namath. She said he was a complete gentleman and very devoted to his daughters. She couldn't understand why I was making a big deal over her meeting Broadway Joe!
