*Free Britannia* our Cousins in the UK needs our help

Hello,

I have visited free Britannia several times before, they are very similar to us, they support us and almost all that we do. When President Bush said "America has no truer friend that Great Britain" he was talking about these people.

Their site is down now. I am not 100% sure why, but I think they could not afford to keep it up or there was some problem with their message board, I do not know, but I think we should do Something, Anything. The thing is, I do not know what to do. Anyone here have any ideas? Our cousins over there need our help; otherwise they would have no forum to speak conservative politics or anything.

Their site was www.freebritannia.co.uk We even still link to it on the Free Republic home page.

Also, does anyone know what freeper e-mail address I could send this to where they could maybe get them on our server or something?

Maybe if we could get something done for them, it might make a great Christmas Present, lol.

You might ping 'quidnunc' -- he may know what the current status is.

Aerostar mailed me that the site has been taken out, not to return in the foreseeable future. Awerostar and her guy are now in the US working another venue.

From an earlier thread asking the same question:

I found this thru a Cached Google link: 04/30/2003 12:38 AM by Aerostar Free Britannia is changing! Free Britannia is going off line from August 2003 until September 2003 to re-emerge as Anglosphear.com . We have always been on the forefront of the Anglosphere, encouraging cooperation between the English speaking/British heritage nations. What better way to encourage the Anglosphere than to dedicate a site to this emerging, vital, and CONSERVATIVE civilization? So welcome Anglosphear.com as in "Hear the Anglosphere!" Look for a user friendly site with a great chat room and the same intelligent and erudite analysis of news, history, and culture you've come to expect from Free Britannia. 2 posted on 08/06/2003 3:46:00 PM EDT by KS Flyover

Doubtful. MadIvan has not been seen for a long time. Some said that the got a job that kept him busy. But no posts since May indicates to me that he might not be returning.

I went to http://www.dreamersofdune.com/, the site listed as the contact for MadIvan. I found someone on there who had Ivan in his screen name and sent him an e-mail...

As one of the former administrators of Free Britannia I can clear the matter up.

MadIvan for reasons best known to himself decided to bow out of FB, so he sold the site to Aerostar.

FB's server company tripled the server fees and it was just not financially possible to keep the site going, particularly in light of the fact that we felt that the EU's xemophobia laws posed a threat.

Aerostar has subsequently taken a job which necessitated her moving from the West Coast to the East Coast.

There was no way she could resuscitate FB and I'm not inclined to turn myself into the sort of geek which it is necessary to be in order to become a competent webmaster.

If the site were based in the U.S., it wouldn't be subject to any EU xenophobia laws. I say this as a U.K citizen who is, himself, based in the U.S.

We initally tried to move the site to a U.S. based server, but ultimately the cost and effort involved proved insurmountable.

A newbie generally should try to avoid insulting our British allies until he has been a member long enough to contribute to a freepathon or two, don't you think?

Do you have any ideas on what we could do? I used to use FB and think that it would be so great if we could get it started again. It did not look like it took up much space, maybe it could be hosted on a FR server...do you know who to talk to about that idea?
