The problem I see here...is that the Muslims will claim that no German should wear a cruxifix either....and that type claim...won't wash in Bavaria. Bavaria will succeed from the German union if Schroeder attempts to put Catholic items on the list too. My guess is that this will end in the EU court and the Muslims will win. There is a EU rule about respecting one's religion....and I think the EU court will weigh in on both the German and French cases.

I believe the way the EU Court works is this: they ask France and Germany how the decision should go. Socialists are not big on written law and court precedence. From the time of the French Revolution, the Socialists have based "official decisions" on what the Big Dogs want. THAT's what egalitarianism is all about.
