Insert " excuse" or plea here___.
God has special areas set aside for vermin like this. For her sake . . . I hope she stole some sunscreen, Raybans, and a water wiggle.
What a joke!
Family adopts mother and childBy Dorothy Y. Lewis, Rocky Mount Telegram
One Edgecombe County woman didn't let her unemployment stop her from giving to strangers this holiday season.
"I have always liked giving back to the community in any capacity I could," said Charity Avent of Rocky Mount, who said she was laid off from Saturn Electronics & Engineering last month.
Avent, 50, and her husband, Sidney, 46, of Rocky Mount adopted a family living at the Bassett Center, which provides temporary housing for homeless families on Branch Street.
Stephanie Doward said she became homeless three weeks ago because she could not afford to pay rent for an apartment on Mill Street in Rocky Mount.
"I thought Christmas was going to be horrible for my child and me," Doward said.
Doward, 37, said her outlook changed when she learned the Avents, a couple she did not know, bought Christmas gifts for her family.
"I was so happy and overjoyed for my child," said Doward, while sitting with the Avents on Thursday at the center. "I didn't care if I didn't get anything, but I was worried that my child wouldn't get anything."
Doward's son, LaKevin, 9, said he is looking forward to Christmas Day.
"I wouldn't mind getting a remote control car," LaKevin said.
Sidney Avent said he cannot stand the thought of a child not getting gifts on Christmas Day.
"Basically, I grew up with the focus being on Christmas and children," said Avent, who works at Abbott Laboratories. "I have three daughters, and one of my favorite Christmas memories when they were little is seeing the expressions on their faces when Santa had come."
The Avents have been making the Christmas season bright for needy families for ten years, they said.
"I just love giving," Charity Avent said.
Five years later he was found dead with a needle in his arm. Hellbound IMHO.
As Eddie Murphy once said, "I guess she wanted to be on the Hell Express."
