You'll see a wide panorama of the island with beautiful homes perched on hill sides. You'll gaze down on the bustling port full of ships, yachts and sailboats. You'll see strands of white sand beaches off in the distance.
You'll see the captain and some officers standing in something resembling a crow's nest. I forget the name of this little area jutting out the side of the ship. (Commander Mustang, help!) They're using binoculars, radios and handsignals as they oversee the ship inching up to the concrete dock.
You can watch the fascinating hustle-bustle below as dockhands wait for the Zuiderdam's sailors to toss the mooring ropes with unerring aim.
The local tug boat that guides the huge cruise ships into port chugs off, its operators waving cheerfully to the passengers lining the rails.
There's nothing like a balcony cabin. One of my favorite sights is stepping out on it late at night before retiring. With luck, I may catch a glilmpse of another cruise ship in the distance. Cruise ships sail the Caribbean with thousands of lights shining from stem to stern. It's quite a sight.
