However, we always schedule an on-board activism meeting. Attending this meeting (held during an "at-sea" morning) is optional, but nobody ever misses it!
Freepers love these ship-board get-togethers with each other, and they're always a highlight of a FReeps Ahoy cruise. The meetings are informative and so darn enjoyable that everyone hangs around after the program, chewing the fat with each other till their tummies tell them its almost lunch time.
Last cruise, Diotoma and Bob J put on a nice program with a review of what FRN is and what its goals are, plus a rundown of freeps and activism, past and proposed. An inspiring video of Liberty and Support the Troops freeps across the country was shown to the enthusiastic audience.
Freeper participants spoke from the floor on any subject and some of them had great activism comments and ideas to share. With the election coming up after this cruise, this upcoming input session will certainly be timely and helpful.
This year's meeting will also feature approximately a dozen door prizes distributed to lucky participants. I'm not going to tell you what they are, hah, but they're all alike, all are donated by one generous freeper, and all are smaller than a breadbox. If you win one of these gifts, you'll be one happy freeper, believe me!
On our last cruise, we were all seated in a beautiful private room for the meeting. The ship's staff made sure we had plenty of steaming cups of coffee, tea and an assortment of tasty ship-baked pastry snacks. Through the windows of the salon, and in the comfort of soft lounge chairs, we could watch the sparkling sea roll by as we tackled the great and small issues of conservatism, freeperism and cookieism.
Doughty One, our cruise webmaster, will be posting shots of two of the beautiful meeting rooms on board the Zuiderdam, one of which will be ours.
Picture you upon the "Z"
Coffee for you and tea for me
Can't you see how happy we will be?
