Pipelines and an oil storage depot in three different parts of Iraq have been set on fire after insurgents' attacks. Large amounts of petrol were lost after what officials said to be "sabotages". Iraq's Ministry of Oil announced that attackers fired grenades at a pipeline south of capital Baghdad, and news agency reported on the other attacks.

Looks like, although we've put a damper on the daily bombings of American soldiers, Al Qaeda still seeks to deny us Iraqi Oil.

They destroyed gasoline storage tanks, also. It is to make the Iraqi more disgruntled...remember how hours in line for gas made us feel during the Carter years?

We'll get along without Iraqi oil. Those really harmed are the Iraqis themselves.
It's in their own interest to exterminate saboteurs.

They're actually denying Europe and Asia the oil. We only get a very small fraction of our total imports from Iraq. The vast majority comes from South America.

It's getting too dangerous to attack US Soldiers so they are moving to softer targets!!
Good news!

Al Qaeda still seeks to deny us Iraqi Oil.No, they're pro Howard Dean operatives in Iraq. What's good for Iraq and the US is bad for Dean. Deans sealed records are probably his ties to Al Qaeda and Vermont's attempts to acquire weapons of mass destruction.

Additionally, I haven't heard of one attack on US forces since Saddams capture. I'm not ignorant enough to believe there won't be any, and soon -- but right now, they are in disarray.

Additionally, I haven't heard of one attack on US forces since Saddams capture. I'm not ignorant enough to believe there won't be any, and soon -- but right now, they are in disarray. That may also be due to our troops getting more adept at detecting/avoiding/deflecting them. I've been reading stories about how they've learned to adapt their tactics to the situation.

The longer Saddam stays alive, the more he becomes a rallying figure for his loyalists. He either needs to be taken out by a sniper shot, or lynched by his own people- and soon.

I wonder if Haliberton is shrugging yet? Probably not, but I'm sure they are annoyed about not getting credit for their Herculean effort to keep Iraqi oil production going while coming under fire in the field and at home.

I don't think this is much of a rallying point:

Yes, good to get rid of him, but most of those attacking Iraqi oil resources aren't Saddam loyalists, they're Al Queda loyalists.
Ideally these attacks will give some Iraqis incentive to help fight Al Queda.

Good news for the left! Katie will be smiling tomorrow. Someone has to create a folder, The Walking Dead Left, to save these wonderful incidents of joy. How many times have we missed Dashole's sadness, Hillary's hate, dwarf fighting, Saddam compassion...? Time to treasure these memories forever in a "FR testicle box folder".

how close do you have to get to fire a grenade?? aren't there any Iraqi Guards at least at these locations?

The Iraqi oil flowing into the world system will break the strangle hold that OPEC has on oil prices. It does not matter where this oil goes, Saudi Arabia will be the one loosing the money.
So it is very important to the Arab League that the Iraqi people do not get to sell their oil to rebuild their country. The longer the oil can be kept from the market, the more the American Tax payer has to pay to rebuild Iraq, and the higher the Saudi's get paid for their oil.
It is a double strike against the "great satan".
