Maybe Rugova is thinking about converting to Catholicism. :-)

Or maybe trying to curry some favor with the Kosovo Albanian Catholic community.

Kosovo President Meets Pope John Paul II

ROME, Italy -- Pope John Paul II met with Kosovo President Ibrahim Rugova at the Vatican on Saturday (20 December). Rugova expressed his appreciation for the beatification of Mother Teresa and for the Pope’s contribution to promoting religious tolerance and peace. According to reports, Rugova asked for Vatican support for Kosovo and briefed the Pope on preparations in Pristina to build a cathedral. (Kosovo Radio, HINA - 20/12/03)
