I carry the same thing in .40, and with the Uzi badge on it. In winter it's perfect in a high rider holster, but is a little bit large for carry in warm weather. In warm weather, it's my Sig P230. But my .40 is close at hand in my glove compartment.

a novice CCW has no business buying a Glock as his first pistol

I like Glocks, a lot. I appreciate 1911's, also. My CCW is an HK Compact USP .45, primarily because it has 1911 controls and grip angle, in a more reliable platform than the typical production 1911. It can be carried hammer down, DA/SA with a loaded chamber, or hammer cocked, manual safety on, Condition One.

I would not hesitate to trust a Glock (or a carefully tuned 1911) in a gunfight, but Glock's demand a particular respect - they also tend to run very well out of the box, and the consistent trigger pull makes them superior to other DA autopistols for tactical applications.

Many consider them "beginner" guns, when in fact they are far from it and demand careful attention to gun handling.

As for the G37, I'm quite sure it will indeed be a footnote, and may be evidence that Glock needs to, well - get a grip.

.45GAP provides little that can't be accomplished by 40S&W or .357SIG, and does nothing to impress the .45 faithful.

The 21 in that top photo appears to have had a grip reduction.

"We note with pleasure that Ruger is now promoting what they call a "John Wayne Coach Gun," which is a short-barreled, exposed hammer, double-twelve shotgun. (I have in the past referred to this sort of piece as a lupara, a term of Sicilian extraction, but by whatever name it is a highly utilitarian object.) The shotgun is probably the ideal instrument for home defense, and it should be neither complex nor clumsy. Eighteen- or twenty-inch barrels contribute to handy manipulation indoors, and exposed hammers permit the weapon to be maintained fully loaded indefinitely without mainspring fatigue. It may be true that the large bore-size of a shotgun invites small beasties to take up residence in your lupara, but that can be avoided by inserting a small cotton ball in each muzzle. We must accept the fact that the "John Wayne Coach Gun" will be promoted more as an accessory to "cowboy action shooting" than as an instrument of home defense. No matter. Whether you play cowboy or not, home-defense remains a serious matter." - Col. Jeff Cooper

Mine works just fine.

Goes bang every time.

Even the wife can shoot it with a fair degree of accuracy. Usually not more than 30 or 40 rounds though.
