Libya's leader Colonel Gaddafi has said his country sought to develop weapons of mass destruction capabilities but will dismantle this programme completely, Prime Minister Tony Blair has announced. "This decision is an historic one and a courageous one and I applaud it," Mr Blair said.
Colonel Gaddafi had told him the process of dismantling the programme would be "transparent and verifiable", the prime minister said in a statement from Durham Cathedral.
The range of all Libya's missiles would be restricted to "no more then 300km, he added.
Mr Blair said Britain had been engaged in talks with Libya for nine months.
"Libya came to us in March following successful negotiations on Lockerbie to see if it could resolve its weapons of mass destruction issue in a similarly cooperative manner," he said.

Like other posters always say, "pass the popcorn, this can only get better"
Notice how irrelevant the U.N. has become? Bush warned them, and in their arrogance, took no heed. If the truth ever comes out of how they ran the oil for food program, diplomatic immunity would become moot.!!

Life must *really* suck when your political hopes rest upon death, misery, woes, etcHeh! And yet they represent themselves as the champions of the oppressed and defenders of the downtrodden. Lying skunks, all of them.

It would have been hard to maintain such a gaiety attired wardrobe while sucking air from the mud bottom of a hiddy whole.
Mommar chose wisely.

Didn't Khadafy have a child killed in that attack? A two year old I do believe I believe so, probably all the more reason he responded by ordering the downing of Pan Am 107.

It's official: middle eastern thugs are starting to get the message and the liberals are in a full-blown panic. Notice how the media is floating every wacky crackpot theory under the sun (Hitlery Klintoon's spokes-thugs, Baghdad McDermott, Mad Albright) about how Bush is still doing a terrible job and nothing is really better than the Klinton days. We definitely have the momentum in the war now. Things are happening fast since the videos of Saddam getting checked for fleas and tooth rot were aired.

This is a great summary! Also consider me in with your tagline.

And yet they represent themselves as the champions of the oppressed and defenders of the downtrodden. The pathetic thing is that they need to keep the "oppressed and downtrodden" as such, otherwise they lose their supplicants, who would no longer be dependent on them to redistribute our collective wealth to them.

Hi
[someone wrote:]
kadafi is a scaredy cat
[Da Shrimp's message stated:]
Oh, I dunno. He's been making concillatory noises for a while now. He is by no means a fundmental Muslim and I think what he's seen of it scares him.
[MY comment:]
Could it be that you don't remember exactly when Khaddafi began to make those "conciliatory noises"? He was one of the first world leaders to publicly announce his condolences after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. Undoubtedly trying to let the Americans know, in no uncertain terms, that he was not the correct target for the nukes that he feared would be falling very soon thereafter. He didn't want to take a chance that any delay in expressing his sorrow would lead to "noo-ku-lar accidents". (As far as I am concerned, if W. pronounces it that way, then that is good enough to make it official. Let the others change their pronunciation!)
Then, Khaddafi took only a couple of weeks to make a voluntary (!) offer to provide $ Billions to the families of the Lockerbie attack. Given his years of obfuscation and evasion on the Pan Am 103 issue, we cannot seriously believe that he suddenly became a humanitarian without a little nudge in the right direction. He obviously had an epiphany--and he desperately wanted to get his name removed from America's "Most Wanted" list. He knew that we had been willing to strike him hard for a relatively minor offense, so he understood the need to go the extra mile over the last couple of years. And to his credit, he is following through--so far.
I just wanted to mention the triggering event for Khaddafi's newfound maturity and spirit of cooperation. Khaddafi didn't change because he feared a few Moslem fanatics--he changed because he knew that he was in the crosshairs of a nation with irresistable power. He might be able to survive the Islamofascists, but he had no chance against an angry West.

Kadaffi said this in October 2003:
http://memri.org/bin/articles.cgi?Page=archives&Area=sd&ID=SP58703 "We must train the women how to booby-trap the car and blow it up among the enemy, how to blow up the house so it falls on the enemy soldiers. Traps must be prepared. You have seen how [the enemy] check[s] luggage. These suitcases should be rigged so that when they open them they blow up. The women must be taught how to booby-trap their clothes closets, booby-trap their purses, booby-trap their shoes, booby-trap the children's toys, so they blow up on the enemy soldiers."

It is amazing. While the mediots are out lying and creating phoney news, GW is making history right beneath their elite noses.
So when Fox presents another news flash about what our president has done, the left wingers (politicians and mediots) are scooped again. That is my type of Reality TV!

Bush just reeled in another potential WMD threat.Presuming Libya complies. I view this development the same way (though slightly more optimistically) I viewed the North Korean nuclear agreement back in '94. I don't blame folks for trying, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
I am impressed by the political move - keeping this a secret for nine months and springing it out of the blue.
