Libya 'to give up WMD'
BBC ^ | 19/12/2003 | BBC

Libya's leader Colonel Gaddafi has said his country sought to develop weapons of mass destruction capabilities but will dismantle this programme completely, Prime Minister Tony Blair has announced. "This decision is an historic one and a courageous one and I applaud it," Mr Blair said.

Colonel Gaddafi had told him the process of dismantling the programme would be "transparent and verifiable", the prime minister said in a statement from Durham Cathedral.

The range of all Libya's missiles would be restricted to "no more then 300km, he added.

Mr Blair said Britain had been engaged in talks with Libya for nine months.

"Libya came to us in March following successful negotiations on Lockerbie to see if it could resolve its weapons of mass destruction issue in a similarly cooperative manner," he said.

Didn't Khadafy have a child killed in that attack? A two year old I do believe.

Just how saddened can Tommy boy get? All these terrs getting killed, giving up, surrendering. The DNC will have to start funneling their dwindling resources to the commies worldwide to just stir up trouble by the election.

I want to know why Qaddafi gave millions of dollars in cash to CAIR.

Because he will do more damage to America that way then the WMD he can purchase for the same bucks?

The Libyan foreign minister got a newspaper with a dead fish and Saddam's beret wrapped inside. He presented it to Qadaffi and said "Saddam sleeps with the fishes".

Did you hear Ellen RATner on FNC this morning basically saying that Col K did what he did because he's manic-depressive?

New RAT line I suppose. Anything to minimize the importance. Anything.

Yes, I heard her. What a crock.

I also heard Julian on Fox this morning say that Bush was weak on foreign policy.

I need to find something else to watch on Saturday mornings. Ellen Ratner and Julian Phillips are unbearable.

I meant Glenfiddich and The Glenlivet, both good.
Some single malts have strong peat flavors e.g. Laphroaig which I didn't like at all, thought it was akin to paint-stripper :)

Take comfort from the fact that each victory -- no matter how large or small -- for the betterment of the world is driving the left off the cliff. They become nuttier with each accomplishment and are compelled to try to tear it down. But they only succeed in making themselves look even dopier than ever. Life must *really* suck when your political hopes rest upon death, misery, woes, etc. :)

Heck! I'm in a total state of Schadenfreude! If the left had not been so hateful and nasty, I would almost feel an itty bit of pity for them.

Even a broken clock is wrong twice a day, and the brain surgeons at DU do have it partically correct.

This is about:

1. Quaddaffy not wanting to look over his shoulder anymore. Saddam's capture probably lit a light bulb.

2. Terrorism doesn't pay (any more). We have taken out or neutralized most of the players who financially supported terror. With many donors, it was hard to track who was behind what. With fewer donors, the money trails are easier to follow. Rogue countries were (and some still are) using terrorist organizations like we use the CIA - they get them to do the things they want done, but don't want traced back to them. Now we can more easily hold them responsible and they are fearful.

3. Our relationship with Saudi Arabia is being cooled. We have moved our military bases out, fired some diplomatic shots across their bow, and will likely cut back our oil purchases from them. This is to show the world what happens to countries that support radical Islam. We won't invade Saudi Arabia, but we definitely won't help them anymore. This creates an opportunity for other oil producing nations to get the sweet deal we used to offer Saudi Arabia. Lybia, if they play nice and are sincere, could become our next Saudi Arabia. We could use some military presence in North Africa and the cheap oil wouldn't hurt either. Quaddaffy gets our economic support and no longer has to worry everytime he hears a jet fly overhead.

I'm sure that we had enough documents that the French, Germans and Russians hadn't shredded before and after the Shock and Awe started in Iraq to prove their involvement.

$oddomite's briefcase provided the Icing and Candles on top of the 180 degree turn cake that James Baker presented to the French and Germans.

Thanks. I see that one of the mods took it down. *sigh*

It was a KERRY JOKE! Sheesh. A one word Kerry Joke, folks, and I didn't even fully spell the word. I know, I know, it's a family forum, but it hasn't been criticized before. I'm not mad about it, just a little surprised it was deleted. < /rant>

Hmmm.... Sounds like Kha-daffy lost his nerve after Saddam was captured. Kha-daffy had a moment of clarity and saw his future when he saw film footage of a broken staggering Saddam that had just been pulled out of a hole in the ground. Kha-daffy has a good clue that Saddam had the most sophisticated and mult-layered forms of escape of any middle eastern leader around and could hide in-country or abroad better than anybody. When Saddam got caught, that put out word that NOBODY can hide.

Yep, especially now. The average lefty on TV looks like he/she just got kicked in the shins and is trying to put on a happy face. Nothing smacks a liberal like a hard dose of the truth that just won't go away no matter how hard they bitch and their media tries to put a negative spin on it.
