Libya's leader Colonel Gaddafi has said his country sought to develop weapons of mass destruction capabilities but will dismantle this programme completely, Prime Minister Tony Blair has announced. "This decision is an historic one and a courageous one and I applaud it," Mr Blair said.
Colonel Gaddafi had told him the process of dismantling the programme would be "transparent and verifiable", the prime minister said in a statement from Durham Cathedral.
The range of all Libya's missiles would be restricted to "no more then 300km, he added.
Mr Blair said Britain had been engaged in talks with Libya for nine months.
"Libya came to us in March following successful negotiations on Lockerbie to see if it could resolve its weapons of mass destruction issue in a similarly cooperative manner," he said.

Gadaffi was the first Arab leader to call our Afghan war righteous:
Gadaffi: Our New Friend (Really!?) Oct. 5 2001
Define terrorism, urges Gaddafi Oct. 21, 2001
This article is interesting, eg, about Gadaffis son, and Prince Idris, a Washington DC resident and possible successor.

Gee, did someone or something do a late-night flyby of Muammar's house? Ol' Muammar, or however you spell it, is still hearing the BOOM when Uncle Ronnie rattled his cage.
If only France, Germany and the UN could have helped us get him to surrender. I'll be forever sad, disappointed and upset over this miserable failure of foreign policy.
WE ARE NO SAFER NOW THAN WE WERE ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2001.

And Liz! Just think!!! Muammar has about the best, lightest, sweetest crude on planet Earth!!! Reminds me of that ol' Saturday Night parody of the Beverly Hillbillies.
Achmed and Abdul were justa shootin' at some jews,
and up from the ground came a bubblin' crude,
oil that is,
Texas tea........
(Don't forget that the reason they hit the crude is that Arabs are notoriously BAD shots)

For those of you too young to remember the great years of Ronald Reagan, Kaddaffy was acting up quite a bit, so Ronnie sent some stealth bombers over there to say hello.
The only way Libya even knew they were there was that there was these big smoking holes in the ground where his palace and bases used to be...
Luckily for him he was sleeping in a tent outside that night. I think he got the message because he has been playing nice ever since.
Oh, and France would not allow us to fly over their air space, making the mission twice as long (and twice as dangerous). I personally believe France notified him not to be sleeping in his bed that night too...

What about that idea that disbanding the Iraqi Army was such a horrible mistake...in light of the effects of those that were able to slip through into the Iraqi Police even with positive review required?
'Course the bozos that thought Bremer should keep the Iraq Army intact won't understand the parallel.

Let's see Rather, Jennings, and Al Katie try to spin this as a defeat for GWB.They can't. So they'll just downplay it as much as possible instead.
Dont underestimate the liberal media.
I predict that the SPIN will be... that this was all brought about because of Tony Blair's effort and had nothing to do with President Bush.
To SPIN it even further it will be reported that this was a carrot or stick deal ~ there will some story of how the West is going to give lots of money and economic aid to Libya now in return for this and that Libya's decision had absolutely nothing to do with Iraq.

Qadaffi has been in captivity for months. President Bush will announce his capture when it is most advantageous for his re-election. Not only that, GW has the brains of all nine Dimo contenders plus Al the Goron in custody in a lock box. He has been exploring them for signs of intelligence for months, but to no avail. He will release them just before the election, so they can fall to the Earth with a thud, as expected.

President Reagan has already knocked Khadaffi's turban
sideways several years ago. He knows he can take what
Bush says at face value.

Al Gore still owns all that oil stock his father was bribed with. I suppose his ignominious departure in a shack in Tenessee, pennyless and drooling, would be a hopleless fantasy.

Keep your friends close. Keep your enemies closer.
Do you think the Administrations is now able to put Libya under the public microscope and gather intel for those itchy finger Horn of Africa troops?
