Libya's leader Colonel Gaddafi has said his country sought to develop weapons of mass destruction capabilities but will dismantle this programme completely, Prime Minister Tony Blair has announced. "This decision is an historic one and a courageous one and I applaud it," Mr Blair said.
Colonel Gaddafi had told him the process of dismantling the programme would be "transparent and verifiable", the prime minister said in a statement from Durham Cathedral.
The range of all Libya's missiles would be restricted to "no more then 300km, he added.
Mr Blair said Britain had been engaged in talks with Libya for nine months.
"Libya came to us in March following successful negotiations on Lockerbie to see if it could resolve its weapons of mass destruction issue in a similarly cooperative manner," he said.

Good! I'm glad they kept this one out of the press and let them scramble on a Friday afternoon for their interpretations. Ought to happen more often IMO

I would think the recent images of Saddam were much more influential. Perhaps the colonel is self-conscious about his dental work and fears having his teeth examined on global news broadcasts.

But, but, but ... Howard the Dean told us that Saddam's overthrow and capture hadn't made America safer! I guess Gaddafi's change of heart just must not be connected...
LOL!

Do not get too excited, there is alot more to this and it is ongoing story. Look back at the actions of Libya this year and see the pattern of actions. Including the payments to Lockiebie victims.
A lot more going on and we need to watch Syria'a next move too.

Somebody post that pic of Tom Daschle looking all dejected after the '02 election.
It's gonna be ok, Tom...that's right, put down the gun....back away from the ledge.

And it was a horrible mistake to announce that those who were not part of the coalition wouldn't be allowed to bid on U.S.-paid contracts. Now he'll never get them to forgive Iraqi debts.

Dean looks REALLY short in that picture... Rush made a comment that he can't win, if for no other reason than the fact that he's so (relatively) short... How tall is he? 5'9"? On the bright side, Dean will need a relatively small spider hole.

Actually I thought this guy's artwork (above) on the eagle was good, even though it is from DU. The sentiment over there is the Clarke's numbers go up, Dean gets further pummeled due to these global events.

This is good news. We should give the guy a break if he is truly sincere. We got bigger fish to fry. One less country to worry about is a good thing. I hope he has learned his lesson from Reagan and is ready to turn over a new leaf.

some deem watching CNN ( the most trusted name in news.....to do what? ) or pMSNBC ( I wanna be the next Katie) suicide, but to me watching the media ( unelectable democrats) spin great news is priceless.
this was a Kerry Gephardt Dean Lieberman
boot, sideways, right to the backside.
Bad for the backside , great for the boots.

Didn't Clark say just yesterday that he would have captured Bin Laden a long time ago. I guess he would have talked Libya out of their WMDs already too.
To: freedomcrusader
If true (and do we ever have to verify, verify, verify, and even prepare, IMHO, the Instrument of Unconditional Surrender Document in Tripoli) yes, this is indeed a verification that the Reagan approach WORKS! The blind liberals and America haters ignore the history of the end of the Cold War/Berlin Wall, they will also choose to ignore the War on Terror and what really works at the end of the day.
