Possible Terror Threat in New York City
www.yahoo.com ^ | 12/19/2003 | www.yahoo.com

12:25PM : Stock market continues to trade along its lows of the day following the ABC report about a possible terrorist threat... Selling, though, has not been particularly pronounced or indicative of a panic-sell-off... Strikingly, the price of gold is still down - by $1.20 to $409.90/oz - for the session... The talk of a possible suicide bomber in New York City has not put much buying interest in the safe-haven investment vehicle; rather, investors have not been too bothered by the news and have chosen to book profits in the precious metal instead...

As a result, the gold shares are some of the weakest names right now... NYSE Adv/Dec 1403/1679, Nasdaq Adv/Dec 1129/1859

12:00PM : Pretty listless morning of trading as the indices have held to a tight range around the unchanged mark... The blue chip averages have been above water for most of the session, whereas the Nasdaq has been unable to sustain a break above the unchanged mark... The Composite's impressive year-to-date rally, along with sector rotation out of technology sub-sectors such as semiconductor, networking, and computer hardware, has served as a limiting factor in today's session... The same groups have been on the defensive today, and have undercut the Nasdaq's performance...

As for the Dow and S&P 500, they have benefited from some selective buying in consumer finance, lodging, basic material, and auto... Morgan Stanley upgraded Alcoa (AA 37.69 +1.31) to Outperform from Equal Weight, and Oppenheimer upgraded Ford (F 15.31 +0.39) to Buy from Neutral, helping the latter two sectors... The stock market in general, however, has weakened in the past half hour on the heels of an ABC news report citing a 'credible and imminent threat to New York City'... Sources who received the information through communication intercepts say the threat involves a suicide bomber...NYSE Adv/Dec 1533/1525, Nasdaq Adv/Dec 1213/1714

Hollywierd has been sanitizing movie plots for ages; I am sick to death of Neo-Nazi's always being the bad guys, as stand-ins for the Islamic Devils that we are afraid of portraying. (Didn't they whitewash "Sum of All Fears" in that way?) I say we do a thriller movie that portrays the world as it really is...

Here's a great movie plot/conspiracy theory...the Dems secretly aid an Arab Jehaadist in setting off a biological weapon in the middle of the Stock Exchange. The goal? Panic the country, and tank the economy so that they can blame Big Bad Bush for the failure. Remember that you heard it here first, and if Dean does it, as first person to sarcasticly note the idea, I get 10% of the movie deal.

following the ABC report about a possible terrorist threat

If this proves to be a false alarm, ABC should be held accountable for the panic they have caused.

"If this proves to be a false alarm, ABC should be held accountable for the panic they have caused."

Yep, but it will never happen.

I would think that since 9/11, the stock exchange, realizing that they would be a prime terrorist target, would have set up an alternate site to conduct business from in such a scenario. They'd be foolish if they didn't.

Yes, there were reports of a distributed, remote backup capabilities in nearby states like Jersey and PA. If not further out.

Several weeks ago, the Elijah List published a prophetic word about New York City and an attack there. It's no surprise that the terrorists want to attack the hub of our commerce. Didn't they figure out last time that Americans aren't wussies? WE FIGHT BACK!

They have. A friend of mine works in Wall Street and everyone of the major firms have backup plans now in place and they run drills also to test these. It is not going to be as bad as 9/11 this time in terms of things going down. But on the flipside, look at how quickly everything came back up after the destruction and mayhem and the economy has responded rather nicely too, thanks to a great president. Of course you wouldnt hear the media saying this...

I know I'm not the only one here who thinks ABC News would make up an news item like this to try to force down GW's poll numbers in the aftermath of the Saddam capture. The liberal media is not simply biased. They're outright mendacious. And they have an agenda that has nothing to do with professional journalism.

The Elijah List is put out by Steve Shultz and is a compilation of recent and not so recent prophecies concerning not only the United States but other countries as well. It's very encouraging to read how God is moving and even warning us. I highly recommend it.
