I have felt ever since I learned that the RNC will be in nyc around the anniversary of 9-11 that it will be the Rudy show.

Cheney will announce that he will not be on the ticket during the dem primary, taking a lot of the shine off that contest as the speculation will be on who will Bush choose as his VP (and successor).

Rove & co will float the idea that it will be a hardcore conservative joining the ticket, making the final announcement that it will be Rudy all the more dramatic.

Bush/Rudy enjoy a comfy margin in the polls througout the election season and win 400-425 electoral votes, with some solid but unspectacular coattails (a 55-44-1 spread in the Senate, and 235-200 spread in the House).

Too many Bushes weird people out. Jeb will never be President. The 2008 election will be Rudy vs Hillary.

Rudy wins that one solidly.

Your scenario is provocative, and makes sense. I wonder if it will play out that way? I'd like to see it, though, because the Hildabeast MUST be stopped from EVER being elected president, and Rudy would be the perfect candidate to clean her clock in a head-to-head contest.

The way I see it there's only one problem with your scenario and it may simply be with your choice of using the label "hardcore" to describe Rudy. Based on his stance on abortion, I don't think you can rightly describe Rudy as a "hardcore" conservative. The rest of your post is intriguing, though. :)

I don't see Cheney off the 04 ticket, the election is too important to further complete the War on Terror and Bush is not going to take any chances, IMHO.

And I think a Cheney resignation in mid-term is out of the qusetion if it is done politically, to set up a successor. If it is done for health reasons, that is different.

The terrorists worldwide would fear Rudy. They would LOVE Hitlery. Simple as that. I go with whom the terrorists hate and fear the most. The enemy of my enemy-kind of a thing, you know......

That combination would guarantee victory in '04 and Rudy would win in '08.
