SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Michael Jackson (news) was formally charged Thursday with lewd or lascivious acts in a case stemming from allegations he molested a cancer-stricken boy invited to his Neverland Ranch, setting the stage for what could become one of the most sensational celebrity trials this Internet-wired, 24-hour-cable world has ever seen.
The charging documents specified at least three counts alleging violation of a statute involving lewd or lascivious acts upon a child under age 14. An Associated Press reporter was only able to view the top page of the documents as they were delivered to a court clerk.
They come nearly a month after authorities raided Jackson's estate and arrested him days later on suspicion of child molestation. He has been free on $3 million bail.
Jackson, 45, has said the charges are "predicated on a big lie." His attorney, Mark Geragos, has said Jackson's accusers are after the singer's money.

I think Snedden should shut the hell up. This press briefing is totally unnecessary, IMO.
Let the facts speak for themselves and not compromise the case, as I think his behavior is now doing. Any questions could be handled by a press person in his office.

One reporter said that Jackon's agent told him that Michael doesn't have any business in England. Jackson was given his passport back because Geragos said that he had contracts that he had to honor.
Hmmmmm. Could this be Jackson's breakaway?
