Sacramento -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, under mounting pressure from local governments, will declare a public safety emergency today and order the state controller to pay cities and counties money they started losing after his decision to reduce the fee for vehicle licenses, administration sources said Wednesday.

because Schwarzenegger has said he does not want to raise taxes. Of slightly more relevance, he was elected governor on his central campaign pledge not to raise taxes. Mandate in action.

Actually I think he was elected on his promise to balance the budget and simultaneously not raises taxes...so far he only seems to want to balance the budget by borrowing money to pay for the spending. That way some future generation can pay for the overspending of this one.

wouldn't you love to see a list of names/entities that recieve endowments from the state? liberals closing firehouses instead of cutting funding for theater groups or art exibits or whatever.
