'It Is as It Was'
Mel Gibson's "The Passion" gets a thumbs-up from the pope.
Wednesday, December 17, 2003 1:06 p.m.
Here's some happy news this Christmas season, an unexpected gift for those who have seen and admired Mel Gibson's controversial movie, "The Passion," and wish to support it. The film has a new admirer, and he is a person of some influence. He is in fact the head of the Holy Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church.

There ya see, when people can't talk sensibly they start resorting the name calling and poking fun.
How about we put these names out there; D.L. Moody, Charles Spurgeon, William Tyndale, Martin Luther, John Knox, Miles Coverdale, John Wycliffe, John Rogers; then of course our modern experts on false teachings, John Ankerberg, Dave Breese, JR Church, Jimmy DeYoung, Russ Doughten, Daymond Duck, Arno Froese, Phillip Goodman, John Hagee, Ed Hindson, Dave Hunt, Thomas Ice, Terry James, Grant Jeffrey, David Jeremiah, Gary Kah, Tim LaHaye, Zola Levitt, David Allen Lewis, Hal Lindsey, Chuck Missler, David Noeble, Charles Pack, Donald Perkins, Randall Price, David Reagan, Larry Spargimino, Perry Stone, John Walvoord, heck, let's throw in Jack Chick, Alberto Rivera, Charles Chiniquy, Rev Butterfield, shall I go on?
It's unfortunate that most folks who reside within the catholic church don't realize they bow down to a false god. You've taken something that I was hoping would not go this far and changed it into a "free for all."
All I said that was that though I don't agree with catholic teachings and precepts that I am truly happy for what the pope said and that one doesn't have to agree with catholicism to appreciate how much those 5 words meant.

She has latched onto conservatism and developed a ridiculous tone in her banal expositions of what is conservative. I think she's sincere. But I tend to agree with you otherwise. She sounds like she's on quaaludes.

"Do I consider the pastor of my church the "holy father"? Not! He is a person, a man, who is esteemed but not worshiped like a god. Do you catholics really believe that a priest or the pope serves as God's incarnate on earth - to pardon your sins and forgive your tresspasses from others? "
We call the pope holy father just as we call the president or the judge his excellency or the king and the queen, your majesty or your highness. No christian in his right mind considers or worships another man other than Christ as god or gods incarnate on earth. Next time, make a more reliable or credible accusation on catholics than such silly remarks.
As in the case of confessing of sins to a priest, praying to the saints, virgin Mary, idols, and other objections like purgatory, indulgences, eucharist, infant baptism, calling a priest "father"
etc, do your own research on some catholic websites like www.catholic.com or www.ewtn.com. I am tired of explaining these reasons over and over again to most if not all of my protestant friends, including their elders and pastors. It shows that the concept of I and the bible alone does not work. You guys would not have all such swallow objections had you understand the bible more thoroughly. After all, the bible is a Catholic book, canonized by the Catholic church based on Catholic tradition.

You forgot Catholic basher James White who got his doctorate from an unaccredited correspondence school.
How about you wax poetic on the teachings of say, Calvin, Luther and Zwingli on the Blessed Virgin Mary for starters and then we'll tackle the rest of your absurd assertions.
"To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant."
John Henry Neumann
To: A.A. Cunningham
Unfortunately your friend John Henry Neumann is wrong, and to continue your apparent sarcastic statements about who I missed you're wrong about history and about what the likes of Calvin, Luther and Zwingli said in their teachings. Unfortunately though since church history is always under revision due to catholic-minded revisionists hardly anyone knows what anyone said anymore. Why don't you just save your breath if you can't hold a decent conversation, no one wants to listen to a smart-butt.

Where ignorance is bliss, tis folly to be wise.
Do yourself a favor and get an education before you start ignorantly flapping your gums via the keyboard.

To all atheists and agnostics-I hope you take the time to see this film.
I have heard on very good authority, that it is very touching.
Perhaps it will be more interesting if everyone meets back here, after we have all had a chance to view this movie for ourselves?

I want to see this film, despite the fact I think it's ridiculous that there are no subtitles(part of the art of film is in wordplay, even a translation would help a bit.)
But I also would be interested in seeing a film on Apollonius perfoming miracles, Krsna raising the dead, Horus resurrecting Osiris, Odin gaining wisdom after hanging and dying from the Yggdrasil and Buddha resisting the temptations of the demon Mara(and of him being born from Maia's side-linguitically related to Maria or Mary) after a dream of a white elephant--thus technically, a miraculous birth.

"Saint Jerome's Latin Vulgate was in existence nearly 12 centuries prior to the commissioning of the abridged and heavily edited KJV."
Shows what you know. All 173 versions of the true bible include lost writings and previously suppressed documents.

And why don't you take lessons in manners, and definitely get another writer. You're one-liners show the ignorance you only now are displaying. I know what I'm talking, too bad most folks don't know the true history of your "church" or else your priests would have been lynched by now. But that's ok, mine isn't to judge a person's soul. And it's really too bad you took this farther than it needed to go.

Too bad though, there are many who know the truth of the catholic church, people just don't want to listen cuz they think it's out of hate they preach against the "lady who rides the beast" as mentioned in Revelations.

Listening to Jack Chick's and Dave Hunt's drivel will rot your brain. Give it up and you'll have fewer bad nights.
Trust me on that...
To: pctech
Now that I think about it, listening to them will rot you soul, too. That's even worse. I've read their stuff; lying speech is their native language. They have not the truth in them, but they deceive many. You included, apparently.
To: Skywalk
LOL!
Why would you need subtitles for this particular film?
The plot is rather widely known in advance. It should not be hard to follow.
As for the rest of your entertainment needs, why dont you produce them yourself?
I would enjoy them, if done well.

heck, let's throw in Jack Chick, Alberto Rivera, Charles Chiniquy, Rev Butterfield, shall I go on? Sure, let's do that. After all, Alberto Rivera is a fraud and a liar. Protestant investigators have proven that, not Catholic ones. Jack Chick is on record saying that Alberto Rivera is the "most godly man he's ever met". Guess Jack's known some real doozies in his day, huh? Or, maybe he's just a lousy judge of character. Of course, Jack's popped off some pretty incredible lies in his own right.
Charles Chiniquy, if I'm not mistaken, concocted the ridiculous tale that the Jesuits assassinated Abraham Lincoln.
Yeah, those are real heroes of Christian truth, every one of them. Do you realize how silly it makes you sound, to associate yourself with known liars and malcontents like that? My Bible still has the commandment against bearing false witness in it ... does yours?
Protestantism deserves better than to be defended by the likes of Chick, Rivera, and Chiniquy.
