BOSTON Dec. 16 Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark said Tuesday that it is time to end the search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and use the intelligence agents and U.S. troops there to find Osama bin Laden instead.
President Bush cited Saddam Hussein's alleged weapons stockpile as a reason for going to war in Iraq, but none have been found.
Clark, a retired Army general who led the NATO bombing campaign in Kosovo, has argued that bin Laden, the alleged mastermind of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, posed a bigger threat to the United States than the former Iraqi leader.
Clark said Tuesday that he welcomed the recent capture of Saddam, but reiterated his view that the administration's focus should be on bin Laden.
"We didn't have to take the detour in Iraq," Clark said at Logan International Airport, where he arrived after two days of closed testimony in the Netherlands at the war crimes trial of former Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic.
"There's no evidence to indicate there was an imminent threat there to the United States. But having gone in there, we had to succeed," he said.
Clark said the Iraq war "wasn't the smart move to make at the time" because it did not address the problem of Sept. 11.
"It's time to pull the intelligence folks and the special forces that are looking for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq off that mission to go after the remaining insurgents in Iraq and Osama bin Laden," he said.

Ohhhhh..... Clark says it's ooooohhh well I guess if he were president instead of some chump with delusions of grandeur his words might mean something.
I guess the US finding WMD's would kind of sink the cahnce of all Democrats in this next election wouldn't it??? Since this has been the regurgitated mantra of theirs for how many months now???

My thoughts too. Clark and Jerry Rivers can go happily searching the caves and rat holes of Afghanistan and Pakistan until they find him. And if they don't come back, who cares?

I say it's time for Clark to go find his brain.
To: yonif
That didn't take him very long.

If Bin Laden is alive, he's in Pakistan, knowing perfectly well that if we enter Pakistan to get him, it will completely destablize the Pak's government. We aren't ready for that yet.
On the subject of OBL, why hasn't he taken a picture of himself with a recent newspaper front page? Even a couple months old article would be sufficient to prove that he is alive, something really far fetched that he could not have foreseen, like the Florida Marlins winning the 2003 World Series.

Wesley Clark is displaying another episode of a spectacular lack of judgement here. He wants to abandon all those deadly chemical weapons stores and go play "where in the world is osama"?
This guy wants to be president but he displays an inability to prioritize.

Hmmm. Now that Saddam has been captured and the prospects of finding Iraq's WMD have brightened considerably, the Democrats want us to stop looking for them. Not to obvious, are we?

For such a supposedly smart guy, Clark is tone deaf and politically stupid.

Clark would make a good scarecrow in the "Wizard of Oz" - "If I only had a brain."
