Top state Republicans praise president's record

Praising President Bush's record on both domestic and foreign policy, the state's top Republicans officially kicked off Bush's re-election campaign in Texas this morning.
"He has done in office what he said he would do. That should come as no surprise to the people of Texas," said former White House adviser and aide to the president, Karen Hughes.
Hughes was joined at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel by Gov. Rick Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, and U.S. Sens. Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn.
The officials acknowledged that Bush's Austin campaign office will play much less of a role in 2004 than it did in 2000.
"We understand our role in this, and understand that the city of Washington D.C. is where the sitting president is," Perry said.
Cornyn took a jab at Democratic frontrunner Howard Dean's opposition to the war in Iraq, but said he believes Bush can beat any of the Democratic candidates.
"Any one of the nine Democratic candidates would be a good contrast to President Bush," he said.
A contrast huh? As in night and day?? LOL!!
So it begins...I hope Karen Hughes is going to be very involved, if even from behind the scenes. I think GW responds well to her.

I never had a chance to meet her. She seems like a very nice lady.
Well, not quite. He signed CFR when he said he wouldn't, and now we are privileged to be the first generation of Americans in 227 years to live with censored political speech. He also signed a tremendously expensive Medicare bill into law, for which the Fedgov has no Constitutional authority - but we and our kids will pay for it for at least decades to come. He is also supporting the re-authorization of the Assault Weapons Ban, whereas during the campaign he merely stated that he supported the existing law - which is supposed to expire on 9/13/03. Oh, and he appears to have lost his veto pen, so he's resorted to being buddy-buddy with the likes of Ted (the drunken murderer) Kennedy and signed every piece of intrusive, high cost legislation that the Dems can get in front of his eyes. And where is the full-court press against the Dems for fillibustering judicial nominees? Where's the fight in this man?
I am disappointed in Bush in many ways - he has turned into a Big Government kind of Republican, which is not much better than a Big Government Dem.
Given the dwarf-like gravitas among the Democrapic candidates, I certainly won't vote for them, and voting third party is about as sensible as pi$$ing into the wind, but I may stay home. Cutting taxes (and not by very much, at that) and kicking the crap out of our enemies is a minimum expectation - and he's done the latter well, for sure - but I repeat, it is my minimum expectation for any President. Bush is turning into his father, politically-speaking, rather than remaining more Reaganesque. I liked the GWB of the campaign far better than the one we've seen in office so far.
I know quite a number of Republicans (well almost everyone in Lago) that would love to meet Karen as well. That would be a great campaign stop and fundraiser. All those retired military out there would love to see her.
One of the Democratic candidates is having his meetings in Brazil, and working up donations from FOREIGNERS.
WHO DO YOU WANT TO VOTE FOR?
