Great Photo Essay. I wrote this yesterday. Hope you won't mind if I post it.
"Freedom"
Freedom isnt free you know,
It isnt even cheap.
Many paid the highest price,
So freedom, we could keep.
Soldiers fought and soldiers died,
In many foreign lands.
In forest deep and thick with snow,
And even desert sands.
We fought at sea and in the air,
The battle rages still.
We must back our troops today,
And show we have the will.
To stay the course until its done,
And then again well see.
That freedom still belongs to us,
But never is it free.

Great photos! I actually had someone ask me if I joined the military because I couldn't get a job elsewhere. I almost decked him. How clueless can you get?

God Bless our President, our Country and the men and women in our armed forces. I thought we were good when I was in uniform but these men and women today are head and shoulders above us. And let us not forget the Coast Guard. They are in Iraq like the rest of the armed services.

Wonderful photo tribute on that site. Thanks so much for linking it here. All photos, links, poems, prayers and other messages honoring our Armed Forces are most welcome on this thread.

Good day, Joe. There are so many touching photos on the Army-Navy-Air Force-Marine Times sites. I think one of the most heart-wrenching is that one that I posted of the parents standing there seemingly all alone receiving the casket of their son. I wish I could comfort them in some way.

Any heartfelt tribute to our guys and gals is welcome on this thread. That's why I started it so FReepers could post their tributes to our Armed Forces.

Maybe yours but I didn't have a choice. If I wanted a college education, I had to go ROTC. Being a sharecropper's son from Selma, there wasn't alot of college money laying around. My draft number was low. Either way I was headed for the military.
