I know the drivers license facilities do register to vote. Some Deputy Registrars in IL are Freeping me that the woman would need to be a Deputy Registrar and should NOT be using electioneering or campaign paraphernalia when registering.

Prairie (what a great discussion! We all need to know what's up in our individual states!)

In my post # 93 I stated that just about anybody can be a registrar. I inadvertently left off the "DEPUTY" registrar. You are 100% correct in your assessment. Except that in some of the more liberal communities, there is little enforcement of the rule that relates to use of campaign material in connection with registering people to vote. Another of their convenient little loop holes.

I know of one incident in my state where a whole bus load of people were taken to register and were all given campaign literature AT THE REGISTRATION site. It was a temporary site set up for one day at a local church. Temporary sites are common in many states. They can be just about anywhere if they are advertised in some way.

This has been a great discussion.
