Bush rules out 'blanket amnesty'

President Bush yesterday ruled out granting "blanket amnesty" to as many as 12 million immigrants illegally in the United States, but said he supports a policy that benefits American business owners and immigrant job seekers.

"We need to have an immigration policy that helps match any willing employer with any willing employee," Mr. Bush said in a news conference yesterday.

I heard him & he said all the right things. I wish the President was listening. I hope JD didn't "blacken the door" of the White House with his remarks.

It's the philosophy of the Wall St. Journal, which is essentially open borders.

Hope he said he was opposed to the Ridge amnesty "trial balloon". The White House needs to know up front there's little support for the idea.
