Phoenix: Is this what we want in our city (The effects of illegals)

Something I often see missing in the news about illegal immigrants, is what they bring to America. We all know about the financial drain on health care, and welfare, but what about the culture shock to American citizens?
Have you seen how some of our cities are looking lately? Illegals are coming over in such great numbers that we are starting to live in their cultural standards.
My neighborhood is now filled with people that think the front yard is a parking lot, and that standing in the front yard drinking Bud Light and partying after work is OK.
Businesses that fold because of declining neighborhoods are reemerging as dollar stores, check cashing marts, taco stands, or something that totally caters to Hispanics.
Loitering day labors are a terrible eye sore in our communities, but the police do nothing to stop it. If our own citizens would take the initiative and call the police something might get done.
The social and visual impact is frustrating to our citizens. How can we have a sense of class, or dignity when we look around at our environment and see nothing but trash and poverty?
Look at the poles while driving down the streets. They are covered in Hispanic graffiti. Theres hardly a pole untouched in the city of Phoenix. If you dont see it take your blinders off.
Those who are selling out the people of America for cheap labor, will themselves ultimately suffer the blight that it has brought us all.

I drove downtown about 6 months ago, admittedly I don't get out of the East Valley much...I was shocked at the shanty apartment houses, etc. All visible as I pulled off the exit.

Aside from the Hispanic graffiti, isn't this what West Virginia looks like?

And unfortunately, it's just the tip of the iceberg.
And looking at what the Bush administration and his home land security chief stated last week, it wont be getting better, as their actions will only give the green light for millions more to enter illegally.
My only suggestion would be to try at all cost, to leave large cities and suburbs. As that is, without a doubt, where the overall majority of illegals are headed..If you can't do that, good luck...

This is disturbing -
THE PRESIDENT: "Well, first of all, I have constantly said that we need to have a immigration policy THAT HELPS MATCH ANY WILLING EMPLOYER WITH ANY WILLING EMPLOYEE. It makes sense that that policy go forward. And we're in the process of working that through now so I can make a recommendation to the Congress."
"Let me also clarify something. This administration is firmly against blanket amnesty."

At least when I pass out in my yard, it's from drinking Heineken

Let the companies keep outsourcing to India and China and see how long it is before Americans cross over the border into Mexico in search of work.

Phil Gordon thinks downtown is wonderful as do other well connected individuals which is why they want to spend so much of our money to "improve" it. I will not nor do I have a desire to go downtown. I haven't been there in 14 years.

That's part of the big problem. As we move more towards a service economy in these cities, that's the draw. Employers don't want to pay American's a livable, higher wage, when there is an endless line of cheap labor, that will work for near nothing. It's a vicious circle.....

You should see the neighborhoods in the Highland Park area of LA. Aside from the other squalor living conditions, people hang clothes for sale on the chain link fences in front of their houses, turn their front lawns and any empty lot into a bazaar by putting their "wares" on the ground, and sell food from carts (including flaming grills). This is the same type of open-air bazaar I saw when I lived in Turkmenistan. If I was a shop owner who had to buy a business license, follow other ordinances, pay for rent & utilities I would be pretty upset by these squatters setting up shop in front of their house or on the street corners.

They think it is so wonderful, I bet none of them reside there or send their kids to school there.

How many cities in California has this happened to? Dozens!!

It should be clear to anyone that the government has no intention of stopping this madness.
That's is why I stated, the only thing one can do is attempt to get out of large cities and the surrounding suburbs. There is no doubt the direction most will be headed..

Those who are selling out the people of America for cheap labor, will themselves ultimately suffer the blight that it has brought us all. The sellouts who are turning the US into the Brazil of the north and think we are a shopping mall in constant need of cheap labor will not suffer any consequences. Those types will live in gated communities or move out of the country completely when the ship goes down.

I agree. Anybody who drinks Bud Lite deserves whatever he gets.

Wait until you see what's happened in the rural areas and small towns, and quite far away from the borders, too. Suburbs might be better off than the cities and rural.

How many cities in California has this happened to? Dozens!! Yep. And throw in the cities of Raligh North Carolina, Atlanta, Phoenix, Denver, Houston, Dallas, Portland Oregon, cities in Tennessee, Salt Lake city, Chicago, and on and on.
It's very sad, but this is where most cities and their surrounding suburbs are heading. Bet the rent. If one want's to live with boom boxes of Spanish music, lots of drinking, trash, busted up cars, high crime, etc fine. Otherwise, have a plan of getting out of the big cities, and the suburbs...
This is the only way one will be able to escape most of it. That is unless one has big time money, and can live in gated, wealthy secured communities.....Even then, one has to go out into it daily. Not a real good option.
