I think it was a slick move yestrerday just making a statement and leaving the questions for today after the opposition has gone on record. Excellent observation.

This kinda takes the steam out of HRC's and Howie's big speeches on foreign policy today.

Gen. Clark has no place else to go.

Now he just said, "there can't be a rush to judgement and punishment." He's insane.

Are we going to make this a "slightly live thread"?

To: Tree of Liberty
I believe that he wants to give these nimwit reporters a chance to ask him some questions. It will be a good opportunity to discuss possible trial procedures and announce additional progress now that we have reviewed the documents he carried and rounded up a few more of his murderous thugs.

I just heard Wes Clark say to Katie Couric, "...this was a relatively small step," referring to the capture of Saddam. What a dork. What an idiot. I heard a journalist on CNN yesterday slip up and refer to Saddam as a hostage.
I can't watch Couric. Not any more.
To: RobFromGa
Probably to announce that Saddam will be tried by the Iraqis themselves and the trial will begin soon. To put a fast premature end to all this speculation about "internationalizing" the trial and get Saddam's gums a flappin' faster. Not to mention his heart to stop beating sooner :-)

You didn't hear of the other things she said, including asking Wesley Clark, "...but wouldn't Iraq with Saddam in charge be preferable to one with him in custody?"
Yes, she said it. I'm waiting on an official transcript before I write an article about it.

I hope you had a tape recorder running, because that will be edited out of the transcript and everything not on the East Coast.

I can't watch Couric. Not any more. That happened to me years ago.
I see her ugly mug on the tube at the gym sometime. Ever notice how her mouth always looks like its puckered up and ready to.....oh, never mind.

Please ping me if you do. That's incredible. Far worse than the reasons I already can't watch her.
To: OXENinFLA
Is the pres. going to be taking questions???? Sounds like it (it's going to be a news conference, and those tend to be Q&As).

...my favorite (so far) bitch-slap to the media was when the "reporter in red" was singled out to ask the last question in yesterday's announcement conference, by Gen. Sanchez. He repeated her question "What was Saddam doing when we found him?" to which he replied "He was hiding"...hehehe...
