Looks like there was more in the briefcase than a week-old falafel wrap. So you're verifying there WAS a week-old falafel wrap in the briefcase?

Rummy said last night in an interview that if he is involved in the insurgency, that could nullify his POW status.

If you're wearing civilian clothes that makes you a spy.

From the MSNBC article:
Given the location and circumstances of his capture, it makes it clear that Saddam was not managing the insurgency, and that he had very little control or influence, said Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. That is significant and disturbing because it means the insurgents are not fighting for Saddam, theyre fighting against the United States.

Exactly, among many other passages illustrating my point.
Jay needs, at minimum, to be yanked off of the Intelligence Committee for conspiratorial misuse of classified information for political advantage. His co-conspirators also need to be appropriately chasticized.

The new information contradicts accounts from former Clinton administration officials who said on Sunday that the Iraqi dictator was likely too isolated to direct continuing attacks on U.S. GIs. Who give a **** what former Clinton administration officials think. Period.

Depending on your version/definition of what a "uniform" is....... black PJ's were enough for a VC as is the Talibans dress code such a ID for them ....thus uniformity. Iraq military had/has a defined uniform yet Saddassed Insane wasn't in it. As Dick-Tator In Chief it's a moot issue anyway......he's gonna hang.....be he soldier, statesman, sissy or spy he's a dead POS as soon as they milk his mind of madness.

Won't there be enough evidence brought by civilians in Iraq to commit him for his crimes prior to the war anyway? I expect a necktie party, though not soon enough.

Won't there be enough evidence brought by civilians in Iraq to commit him for his crimes prior to the war anyway? Yep.
That's why we don't have to resort to ultra-technicalities such as argueing about whether he wore a uniform at the bottom of an 8 foot hole at night.
There is plenty of real violations he can hang for without creating false violations that can later be used against our own servicemembers in another time and place.

Yeah, something else going on here. My thoughts are that by making it sound like Saddam is singing, they rest of the badguys are more likely to try to get the best deal they can and surrender."

Well we all know that former Clinton administration officials have no respect for the truth. The news that Saddam had letters in his briefcase, containing names of cell leaders, was released yesterday, yet the the leftist politicians and media kept up with the Dem. talking points that the capture of Saddam was no big deal.

I just got an idea for cartoon, it should show Katie Couric, and some of the other leftists with their heads spinning, Saddam being led away in the background, and Carl Rove, dressed as a priest, peforming and excorcism, casting out the evil spirits.
