MASSIVE!!! PUBLIC OUTCRY NEEDED DURING NEXT 5 WEEKS FOR JUDICIAL REFORM HEARINGS
Congress is currently completing its business for 2003. When Congress returns from the Christmas recess there will be meetings to set the agenda calendar for the spring 2004 session, I am assured the STOP BAD JUSTICE PROJECT will be on the table for discussion. Timing is everything and the time for JUDICIAL REFORM is now. I do not intend to belittle many of the judicial reform groups, but I have observed most have lost the momentum. I am not aware of any group, other than STOP BAD JUSTICE, that has a plan to take advantage of the air in Washington that is described below.
I ask you to call the offices of the Congressmen named in the below article as well as your Congressmen and Senators and tell them your feelings about the need for JUDICIAL ABUSE HEARINGS. All Congressmen and Senators have a web site that has contact information--type the person name into you search window and a web site with contacts will be available by clicking on the highlighted. I also suggest you call the Republican Party, both at the state and National levels and tell them the only chance the Republican Party has to get your vote next year is for the hearings to take place. I suggest the Republican Party because both Lamar Smith and Steve Chabot are Republicans and the Republican Party is the Party in power. The official JUDICIAL ABUSE TASK FORCE press release can be read on the web site of Lamar Smith. After accessing his site at the house.gov address go to NEWS CENTER then NEWS RELEASES then ARCHIVES and scroll to July 23, 2003
In addition PLEASE spread the word about the STOP BAD JUSTICE PROJECT (SBJ) described at www.stopbadjustice.com tell friends, co workers and anyone you can think of about this project. SBJ is good for everyone, except inept judges and lawyers that get special treatment.
SBJ now has a radio show at www.crusaderadio.com Mon.-Thur at 6 p.m.est. Another very active reform organization JUDICIAL REFORM ( Justice@court.to ) has a show at noon CST on the same station and I encourage you to listen to these shows over the internet. If you would like to be a call in guest on the SBJ radio show , please send an e mail to stopbadjustice@aol.com
THE CLIMATE FOR JUDICIAL REFORM HAS NEVER BEEN BETTER, PLEASE HELP THE REFORM MOVEMENT TO GRASP THE OPPORTUNITY. A SIGNIFICANT EFFORT BY ALL OF US OVER THE NEXT 5 WEEKS SHOULD OPEN THE DOOR TO THE HEARINGS WE HAVE SOUGHT FOR MANY YEARS.
Change at the top will trickle down and make all court rooms more responsible.
Thanks, JOE NORMAN

Judiciary Under Attack
In July 2003, a group of Republican House members formed a judicial accountability group while the full House passed amendments to the Judiciary's appropriations bill that would withhold funds to enforce two controversial federal court decisions.
The House Working Group on Judicial Accountability, co-chaired by Representatives Lamar Smith (R-TX) and Steve Chabot (R-OH), will educate members of Congress and the public about "judicial abuse," according to a press release issued by Smith. Smith and Chabot were joined at a press conference announcing the formation of the group by House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX), as well as by the other members of the group.
"We are going to address the problem of judicial activism at its roots and restore the U.S. Constitution as the North Star of the American judiciary," DeLay said. Based on early meetings of the group, Delay said that "when it comes to judicial abuses, they're going to take no prisoners."
Also serving on the House working group are Representatives Todd Akin (R-MO), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), John Carter (R-TX), John Culberson (R-TX), Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL), Tom Feeney (R-FL), Walter Jones (R-NC), Steve King (R-IA), Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO), and Joe Wilson (R-SC).
During the House consideration of the Commerce, Justice, State and the Judiciary appropriations bill, Representative John Hostettler (R-IN) successfully offered two amendments to the funding measure that would bar the use of federal funds to enforce Newdow v. U.S., which relates to use of the phrase "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Glassroth v. Moore, which relates to the posting of the Ten Commandments in an Alabama courthouse. Both amendments easily passed the House.
"When the legislative branch, this is the Congress, believes the judicial branch to be in error, the Congress may refuse to fund actions to enforce the court's judgment by the executive branch agency that would execute those judgments. . .," Hostettler said in a statement on the House floor.
Regarding Glassroth, Hostettler said it was not his intention to "disrupt the judicial process in the interim between the Circuit Court of Appeals process and the Supreme Court..."
He continued, " In fact, I welcome the highest Court's review of this decision; and I say tonight that if they get it wrong, I will exercise the power of the purse again and defund the enforcement of that inane decision."
