Saddam Hussein wasn't responsible for 9/11
12/15/2003
SO SADDAM Hussein has been captured. We will now hear the Bush administration and a sycophantic press endlessly tell us that this justifies all our actions in Iraq in the war on terrorism. They'll leave out a few pesky facts. Saddam Hussein is not Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden was responsible for the 9/11 terror attacks; there's no evidence Hussein had anything to do with them.Iraq's ties to Al Qaeda were made up by the Bush administration. US intelligence told Bush in October 2002 there were no ties between Iraq and Al Qaeda while Bush was telling us the opposite.
No weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq. Lest we forget, the compelling reason given to invade Iraq was that Saddam had an arsenal of weapons poised to use against us or give to terrorists. All those strident claims were false.
Our soldiers are now being killed daily in a war Bush declared over in May. The US tax dollars spent on this misadventure could have solved all our health care and education problems. Much of our money has gone to defense contractors with close ties to the White House.
The invasion of Iraq was sold to the public as being part of the war on terrorism, but it appears to be a costly detour from that, and it has made us all less -- not more -- secure. In an Oct. 16 article in The Guardian, British intelligence and the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies warned that the Iraq war has swollen the ranks of Al Qaeda. Isn't the point of doing something about terrorism to do something intelligent that decreases the risk of terrorist attacks?

I'm beginning to suspect that you can judge a newspaper by what appears in the "Letters to the Editor" Section.

Gee, those "same" tax dollars were supposed to have solved those social problems when the Cold War ended and the military was slashed. Those "liberal" i.e. socialist minded folks always want more dollars to solve social problems by increasing the dole.

Here's one from Canada:
Source: Toronto Sun THE CAPTURE of Saddam Hussein does nothing to change the fact that he was no threat to America, that he had no weapons of mass destruction, that his brutal regime was for years supported and armed by the United States, and that the Bush junta out-and-out lied to the American people about the reasons for going to war. It does nothing to change the fact that Bush himself went to war in violation of international law, and that Bush himself, as a result of this, is as much of a war criminal as Saddam, Milosevic, Sharon and other such thugs who trample on international law as they attempt to goosestep their way toward geopolitical domination. If Saddam is put on trial, then the trials of Bush, Cheney, Powell, Rice, Hillary Clinton, Lieberman, and other supporters of this illegal war of aggression should follow in short order.

The problem with Brittle is not that she knows so much, but that she knows so much that isn't so.

What I find fascinating is the left's technique. They don't dispute the evidence (which could be legitimate), they deny its existance.
There is evidence linking Saddam to both Al Qaeda and even directly to 9-11 (published yesterday). You could say that it is wrong, forged, fabricated etc....but they just say it doesn't exist.
How can we use this technique, reverse it on them? Does Howard Dean really exist...there is no proof. Can someone come up with something better?

Adolph Hitler wasn't responsible for Pearl Harbor.

If anyone knows about the economy of Billerica one would know that the defense industry employs a good portion of the industrial workers in this area. There is Textron, once Avco Systems, makers of the PeaceKeeper strategic missle system and assorted smart anti-tank weapons as well as space electronics. Then you have Raytheon and dozens of smaller companies all in the vicinity of Hanscom Field.
For many people writing in the Globe there is never a level of national security that is acceptable when a Republican is in the WH. I suspect that for the writer, spending billions protecting Muslims in Kosovo led by Clinton was perfectly fine.

Brita is not very learned.

This piece once again demonstrates why liberals must NEVER again gain power in this country. These mental midgets focus on 9-11 as if it was the beginning and ending of terrorism as we know it. They never reflect upon the 1,000 or so American soldiers and citizens murdered by Islamic terrorists in the 30 years prior to 9-11.
From the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut to PanAm 103 to WTC the first time to Khobar Towers to the USS Cole, acts of terror against our fellow citizens where people have been murdered or injured. What do the liberals have to say? Saddam didn't have anything to do with 9-11.
As a sponsor of terrorism it makes no difference if Saddam had anything to do with 9-11. I'd bet he had more than enought to do with the other incidents cited even only on the edges.
