Hillary's trip
private email

Posted on 12/14/2003 12:43:37 PM PST by Jumpmaster

Received this from a friend. He was an Air Force pilot. He has a son that flew as part of the Blue Angels and still keeps in touch with many military people. He's never sent me anything that wasn't subsequently confirmed.

This has all of the earmarks of an urban legend. Was it a mass forward?

What do you mean? If you're asking if I'm with Snopes, no I'm not. I first heard of them researching for an editorial on hoaxes for my high school paper.
I do get these kinds of e-mails and look to snopes to see if it's yea or nay. FYI, I went over there and looked in the What's New catergory. I didn't see anything like this. I'll check back in a day or so.

All right. That lends a bit of credibility. Of course, your friend could be the one person in America that floods my inbox. Grrr.;-)

I remember reading this same email on this forum around Thanksgiving.

Doesn't mean it's not true, only that it's not new.

It is being investigated as an UL. See below:

Claim: Hillary Clinton's Thanksgiving visit forced U.S. troops in Afghanistan to wait for their holiday dinner.
Status: Incomplete.

Example: [NewsMax.com, 2003]

U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton forced U.S. troops stationed at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan to wait for their Thanksgiving dinner last Thursday while she and her entourage arrived late, then cut in line and were served first.

A soldier who witnessed the scene tells NewsMax:

"Thanksgiving Dinner started at 3 p.m. that day, so the line was forming around 2:30 p.m. She didn't show up until around 3:30 p.m.

"Once she got there," our source maintains, "Clinton and her entourage bumped everyone in line, forcing them to wait almost an extra hour."

You're a couple weeks behind, the email is cited in this story:

Been very little mention in the liberal media of troop reactions to Hillary's visit.

Thanks for posting this. I can add something - my brother retired out of the Air Force during X42s presidency, and he told us there was widespread dislike for the president then.

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton forced U.S. troops stationed at Bagram air base in Afghanistan to wait for their Thanksgiving dinner last Thursday, while she and her entourage arrived late, then cut in line and were served first.

The brass at Bagram apparently had a hard time rounding up New Yorkers who wanted to have dinner with Mrs. Clinton. Only six G.I.'s responded to an email sent out last week that stated, "Looking for military members from New York and Rhode Island interested in meeting their Senator/Congressman."

People Magazine was on hand to cover the event and wanted to interview the troops for reaction to Mrs. Clinton's visit.

"But they were getting declined left and right," our source said. "People were actually telling the reporters 'You don't want to print what I think about her and her visit.'"

After Clinton and her entourage departed, the only topics G.I.s wanted to talk about were "how great the food was and how fantastic they thought George Bush's visit to Iraq was."

I'm with you. I have received this same E-mail about a half dozen times. It seems that each time it is sent it has a different source, i.e., some other military person saying it was his personal obversation.

BTW, I despise Hillary, so I'm not defending her.

My position is that the Clintons have done plenty of awful things. We don't need to make stuff up to make a point about them.

Don't be too sure.

All she has to do is agree to be the Vice President on Dean's ticket. And by some freak accident if Dean should win the election, I'm sure he'll shock everyone by subsequently committing suicide in the White House...

...And of course, the Park Police won't be able to find any signs of foul play...

Here we go again, way too many vanities.

There have been way too many vanities. We have asked numerous times to please limit your vanities to either the General Interest (Chat) forum or to post your one line vanities on an already existing thread. Guess what, didn't work. So, we will be deleting one line vanity threads, unless it is truly news as reported by a major media outlet. We will be deleting threads misposted to news that clearly belong in the General Interest (Chat) forum. Remember, this is a conservative news forum.

So, get ready, your vanity posts will be removed if you can not follow these simple guidelines.

Here's how to post an article in a forum other than the main news forum:

On the threads page (in any forum), on the right hand side, above the sidebars you will see a group of links that look something like this:

Campaign Central
General Interest (Chat)
News/Activism
Religion
RLC Liberty Caucus
The Smokey Backroom
VetsCoR

Select the appropriate forum prior to posting your article. In that forum, you can post your article the same way as the main news forum.

Again, any misposted articles will be pulled. If you like to see all the threads posted to Free Republic, John has made a Browse All option. All threads posted will be listed here and you will not miss out on any thread posted to Free Republic. And PLEASE use the actual titles that were given by the original author from that media source. It makes searching much more easier and prevents duplicates.

And as always, solicitations and fundraising from outside FR will not be allowed. Have a Merry Christmas.
