We don't arrest people for bing communists. Even in Iraq. We don't arrest people simply for being Baathists either. That's one of the things that makes us different from them.

At a time like this, when Iraq needs to approve a constitution, hold elections, and start building a social framework for the rule of law and government by consent of the governed, taking communists out of circulation until it's too late for them to gum up the works is only good sense.

Perhaps America is strong enough to let commies run free and still survive, although that remains to be seen, but no way should they be allowed to interfere with events in Iraq.
