An Iraqi journalist shouts out and cries at a news conference following the arrest of ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) in Baghdad December 14, 2003. Cheering Iraqis in the audience shouted 'Death to Saddam!'
I was listening then, and it seemed there were WAY too many syllables for it to be merely "Death to Saddam".
I've heard Iraqis in America chanting "Death, DEATH to Saddam" in English, and again, I don't think translating those words into their native language would account for the many, many words they were using this morning.
I'd love an exact transcript of the outbursts.
To see this man's face and emotions and hearing those people shouting "Death To Saddam" was such a moment. I bet none of us can truly appreciate how this makes them feel and what relief they are experiencing! Thanks for the pic, it bears repeating!!
