I'm sorry to have to report that one of our own Freepers, TrappedInLiberalHell, has passed away. His profile is HERE
I met Chris this past summer and found him to be a brilliant young man, who unfortunately carried around a lot of painful psychological troubles. He wrote few posts here, but was an active and clever noter, and a very sweet young man.

Oh, no...how sad....
I loved reading Chris's posts- he was smart and funny and sweet and he had the best screen name ever.
My condolences to his family and to those of you who knew him.

Depression is horrible. I have been that way every day of my life. I am on anti depressants now. I am 53 years old and I know the pain of depression. It hits you in your gut.
I have been diagnosed with clinical depression. Theres just no words to express my sadness over this young mans passing.

This is very sad.
I have some close to me who suffer from depression. My middle son that I love so very much for one. Its very hard for those who have not experienced it to understand.
I will pray that God will give his family peace that passes all understanding.

Do not let the empathy pouring out here make you think it will be somewhat glorified.I don't think anyone with depression thinks that in any way, shape or form. I know you mean well, but I think that if you pay attention to the posters telling their own stories of fighting this horrible oppression, you will see that your comment is a bit off the mark.
I don't know the details of TILH's passing, nor do I want to. But I believe that if someone does believe, that in the split second between the action and the result, there are those that "repent".

If you believe in God - understand that there will be no hereafter for suiciders. There will be no mercy.
None of us would make it without God's mercy and grace. If you knew God, you might not be so quick to say what He would do.
A scripture the Lord gave to me when I was living in a backsliden condition feeling as if I had no hope:
Isa 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, [that] the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? [there is] no searching of his understanding.
I am not saying I know either, but I wouldn't be so sure if I were you. .

"Chris, we enjoyed your friendship and appreciated what you had to give. And we needed you to help us make the world a little bit better place. Now we will have to carry on without you. You will be missed."

I forgot to mention, that after my husband took his life, my reaction went from anger, sad, depressed, and around and around...
Sometimes it's less painful to feel angry ..
This is all part of the grieving process...
Go with the flow..

I appreciate you comments but must respectfully disagree with one point.
NO ONE KNOWS THE MIND OF GOD. He alone makes salvation decisions. He has given us direction on what is necessary to be a child of His.
From my exhaustive study of scriptures in both protestant and Catholic Bibles I read NOTHING that says suicide is the unforgivable sin. We can never take one verse out of context to proof text anything..There is a here after for EVERYONE according to scripture also. Just for some it will NOT be pleasant.
Man's teachings & pronouncements may say differently but I use as my bottom line scripture. God's word.
NO, we prolly should not commit suicide. But, no one loved Chris more than God. Boone knew Chris' mind more than God.
I am glad that you & I don't have to make these decisions.. Mortals have such limited knowledge & limited perspective.
And BTW a most warm welcome to Free Republic. We can disagree or agree but we do so because we care. Hope to see you again on the many regular & many special threads that are around.

Prayers going your way. Your husband was a helluva guy - and you must be quite a woman, to have captured his heart. May God hold you and your family in His hands, and bring you the peace you need.

Eggs, please extend my deepest sympathy to Chris' family and friends. Chris always had funny and interesting things to say and I loved his tagline. What a terrible loss, this is so sad. God Bless You Chris.

If one is self-critical, or a perfectionist, or perhaps a bit obsessive-compulsive, simply admitting there may be a problem, or that you can't solve it all by yourself, is a big hurdle.
Bingo on that for me. It's all in my head . . . it MUST be, since life is otherwise good . . . I should just snap out of it.
And then when you don't just snap out of it, you blame yourself for being weak-minded and wimpy, and it gets worse.
Been THERE before.

A dog bonds as a true friend. When you look in those sweet eyes you see goodness in the world. It is a blessing from God and a blessing that delivers faithfulness, unconditional love, kindness, loyalty, companionship, friendship and someone to take care of. Often the very medicine to get us through tough times.
The Dread Boston Salty went to intensive live-in obedience school today - he'll be gone for two weeks. (He bit a neighbor dog yesterday morning, and we can't afford a lawsuit, so we opted for training.) I have no idea how I'm gonna sleep until December 29.

My dog is sometimes the only thin thread that keeps me from making bad decisions. I can't imagine him wondering for the rest of his life when daddy is coming home.
Great . . . now I'm crying again, 'cause I'm sure Salty is wondering where we are.

I know you did not just post, on a thread read by Chris's wife, that he won't get into heaven.
I KNOW you did not just do that.
Because if you did, I'd have to open up the jumbo-sized can of whoop-ass on you.
