"We are proud of what we have done collectively." Was this an intentional pun?

A few weeks ago, Canada had two stories simultaneously: the Israeli ambassador warned the Canadian government of middle eastern males planning attacks in North America. The Canadian acted swiftly and decisively... to punish the ambassador for daring to mention it.
The same day, Ottowa passed a law making it ILLEGAL to pay for better independent health care. Everyone MUST remain in the same "high standard of healthcare". (But if the standard were so high, why would so many be willing to pay extra to escape it, and why do they need to use the threat of police force to stop them from doing so?)

"We had a good kick at the can," Chretien said. "We are proud of what we have done collectively." Two puns -- or phrases, here -- that bear analysis...
Like Bill Clinton, Chretien has been one of those pols who merely kicked all the problems of his day down the road for others to deal with. Bill Clinton's "Bridge to the 21st Century" is built with all the cans kicked down the road to W.
Any "collectively": Chretien just can't help himself. Collectivists of the World Unite! [and go jump in a very deep lake!]

"...but relations with the Bush administration have been tense due to Canada's refusal to join the war in Iraq."
Nothing like accuracy in reporting...
It wasn't Canada's refusal to "join the war in Iraq". It was Canada's determination to keep Saddam Insane in power and impede the US in removing him at every turn. It also didnt help to have high-level Canadian officials calling Bush names like stupid

Paul Martin is NOT conservative. The difference between Chretien and Martin is the difference between a transvestite man with a feather boa and a transvestite man without a feather boa.

Martin is hardly conservative but at least he seems to be eliminating the anti-American Lefties from any position of influence in his new government.

So, how much better is Martin expected to be? So far, the little I've read about him leaves me unimpressed and thinking he's cut much from the same cloth as Cretin.

Martin is a liberal but he's definitely not one of the anti-American idiots like some other people in the Liberal party.

Some people are more equal than others...
If Chretien or any of his pals get sick I guarantee you they won't have to wait endlessly in the same system the little people are forced to use. Now if they passed a law forcing the elite politicians to wait in the same line that would be something

AFAIK that came from the Liberal provincial government in Ontario, not Ottawa.
